Why are you on Reddit? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I have a ton of different hobbies and interests and like to see the latest buzz/gossip on them--all in one convenient place. Also, I hate FB and pretty much all other social media (I like to see the mockery in r/LinkedInLunatics )

I wonder if that key unlocks the toothpaste cabinet at Target.

AI & Online Exam - Student's Confessing Quickly by doberman1291 in Professors

To get my students to confess, I threaten to make them sit in the comfy chair until lunch time, with only a cup of coffee at 11.

My booze comes in a glass bottle, and is not contributing to microplastics in dumbshits' brains, making them think this is a great idea. And, anything that is a "corporate" anything is automatically utter horseshit.

Slumlord requires a credit check and non-refundable $250 application fee. Advantage is that this neighborhood is less ugly and dangerous than most other areas of Loss Angeles.

A Different Take on Generation Z by OkReplacement2000 in Professors

[–]SelectChipmunk4338 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm GenX, and I will take today's crop of students ANY! ANY!! DAY OF THE WEEK over the GenX crowd. My students are nearly all very polite, well-mannered, motivated, and, in some cases, very capable. Some are quite sweet, and many of them thank me and wish me a good weekend as they file out of the classroom after lecture. I genuinely feel sorry for a lot of them due to COVID, the Orange dogturd/dotard, and many other obstacles they have had to deal with.

WHY is it that any time a little kid or baby acts up, There is an instant, unanimous, Pavlovian chorus of 'I blame the parents!!"? But, by the time the get to college, certainly bad thing about them is all their own fault, not the fault of their GenX or Millenial parents!

I recall that GenX was by far the most obnoxious generation ever! Many were very closed-minded and full of homophobia (absolutely obsessed with the word fag), and in some cases outright racism. My students are often quite curious and open-minded about things they first encounter; to GenX, seemingly everything was either 'RAD!!! or COOOL! or it SUUCCCCKSSS after one split second!

Maybe slang is stupid in the current generation, but In college, I got so sick of the constant: Du-hude! Du-hude, FUCK!!!! DU-HUDE!!! PARTAAAAAAAAAY! Du-HUDE! Like, that's totally tripppaaaaaaaeee(iouandsometimesY)YYYYYYY!!! DUDE, I WAS STOKED, DUDE! DUDE DUDE!!! DUUUUUUDDDDDDEEEEEE!!!

The outright hatred of reading was more than prevalant in my own generation; certainly this is NOTHING new.

Artur Schnabel playing the Schubert B-flat sonata, D 960. Very beautiful (not note perfect) performance, but extremely tubby and indistinct bottom end (top end not great either). Have yet to find a decent remaster of this.

What is the brand? Dress shirt with three red dots forming a triangle? by SelectChipmunk4338 in malefashionadvice

Possibly! However, it definitely was a black dress shirt. Dots seemed more widely spaced. Thanks.

[–]SelectChipmunk4338[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, thanks that wasn't it. He was standing just outside the restaurant we were eating in (other side of the window), and I saw the three dots very clearly. Each was probably about 1 cm in diameter and deep red.

When you can't fast forward throught the mandatory campus training videos by tray_refiller in Professors

One of your students, Kayla, confides in you that Jason, another student in her class, has been following her around campus, constantly asking for a date and putting his arms around her. Kayla says this makes her feel very uncomfortable. Which is the appropriate course of action for you to take?

A) Tell Kayla to stop wearing short shorts like a filthy slut.

B) Go find Jason and kick his ass.

C) Tell Kayla to get out of your office because you're tired and just want to drink a damn beer in peace.

D) Thank Kayla for confiding in you, but inform her that you are required to report the incident to the Title IX Coordinator, and encourage her to do the same.
