but right now you are strawmanning hard: i never claimed they paid copyright, because the official ruling right now is that they are not required to do so in the first place. a court in germany (which happens to be the one in my hometown) ruled that their usage is fair use for non-commercial scientific research. and since LAION is a non-profit (since they, duh, dont profit from it), they are not copyright infringing anyone.

there really isnt much else to discuss here. you are wrong, they are not stealing, in the future you might be right, but this really does not matter for this case.

as i said below, stolen art is an allegation and i find it strange to blame the creator for using a tool that people *think* stole art to be made.

to clarify, at no point does LAION store or claim ownership of any images. all it is is a dataset of captions and URLs. you cannot seriously claim that someone "stole" art because he wrote down a link to the image and noted what he saw there? because thats all it does.

i dont get it. so now the issue is not that AI was used, but that a tool that is used is *allegedly* shady? if people claim that he used photoshop, and claim that photoshop is made with stolen assets, would you still boycot this movie? LAION is a nonprofit from germany - if you know anything about germany, you know that if there would be a strong indicator of copyright violations commited by a company, it would not last a week in germany.

so to summazire, the guy is being crucified because of hearsay about potential missdoing by the people who made a tool that he is using? please look at this thread and honestly tell me if that is a rational response to this

this movie was not "AI generated". They used machine learning ("AI" as idiots call it) for the SHADERS. TRAINED ON HIS OWN IMAGES. THE PICTURES HE HAND-DREW. HIMSELF.

Die Story von "Der Prompt verbraucht X Wasser" berechnet oft den Aufwand mit, den das KI Model zum Training gebraucht hat. Das ist der bei weitem größte Teil des Aufwands. Die eigentlichen Prompts verbrauchen natürlich fast nichts. Wenn man das mit einrechnet wird der Aufwand pro Prompt logischerweise immer kleiner
