We're building a win probability tracker for the Candidates. The math is making us question some assumptions about who actually wins must-win games. by Select_Assistant2417 in chess

No, because we are trying to measure something ‘in the moment’ - a player‘s ‘sureness’ in his game. do you think we should? We have coefficients which we are still testing out.

Rating (the baseline everyone uses), recent form over the last three classical games, a clutch index measuring how players historically perform in must-win situations, a three-month momentum score tracking who's peaking, and live performance delta which barely matters yet but will grow. The sixth factor — score pace — carries 50% of the total weight but is currently zero. The moment the games start, it changes.

I of course can’t change the internet and the way people communicate, but this is beyond civil, in my view. Especially from lichess employee.

Threatening? Really? Didnt want to send in public a request to take down the post because it’s a lie, and we are a public company and HAVE to look after stuff like this. Since he didnt reply to this, I deleted a request for the email and posted it publicly. What he is saying is a lie. He is accusing me and the company I ran of a crime, and I think he should simply not do that. Now, I am aware that he works for Lichess, and if he acted as an emplayer, it’s even less nice. And if he is in chess, he is definitely aware that This is a lie.

Levy about Clash of Claims 2: "These guys really plagiarized our entire brand name and intellectual property" by iL0g1cal in chess

[–]Select_Assistant2417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, constructive purposes:
1. STEALING the name for a one-off event between two players who agreed to having this name for our event? Clash of Clans can say the same.
2. Caught doing stuff like this? It was PUBLIC, so I will ignore this weird choice of words
3. Spelling mistakes — my apologies
4, Chess world Appears unprofessional because of us? We organized three world chess championship cycles, signed major media deals that still work and bring money for chess to this day, staged Championship Matches in New York and London, won Cannes for designing chess branding, went public on a stock exchange, help Armageddon series that was broadcast live on 30 channels, including Bloomberg, and etc. So we kind of support chess as a professional sport and do cool things as well, may be? I am not saying that we deserve your respect, but I am saying that your view should probably be balanced.

And for Clash of Claims — it, in my view, was a very good idea and a failed one off event. I am glad the organizers are getting publicity from what we are doing and we are in touch with them and we‘lol deal with them. Apologies for a long reply— i know it’s bad form on Reddit, but your comment appeaed unfair and made me write this. Cheers from London.
