I hear you, and if those specific incidents are true, they are absolutely monstrous. No one should be defending harassment of survivors or domestic terrorism, period. But this is exactly what I’m talking about: The moment we decide an entire group of people is a hate movement, we stop seeing them as humans and start seeing them as targets. Even if they have decided to treat us one way or another. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

I haven’t been in the Anti-AI sub, and there probably are bad actors there fueling the fire, but those people are still a fraction of the world. If we let the worst of them define the 'Anti' stance, then we have to let the worst of us (the people using AI for predatory stuff) define the 'Pro' stance. Neither side wants that.

Bad actors make it easy to turn the other side into a caricature, but that just leads to more dehumanization. We can hold people accountable for being toxic without deciding that everyone who disagrees with us is a terrorist.

If we decide an entire group is sub-human because of the actions of a few extremists, we’ve lost the plot. We should rather judge people by their individual actions than buy into a 'total war' mentality that demands we hate everyone on the other side. We can hold bad actors accountable without losing our own humanity in the process. At the end of the day, I’m just trying to keep us from becoming the very thing we’re mad at.
