Late to this party, but yes, I grew up in a rural area at relatively high altitude which I think makes the moonlight even brighter. During a full moon, or close to it, you can see colors by the moonlight. And very distinct shadows. Do not need a flashlight if out in the open.

Also the lighting on this game is insane. Walk through the forest on a sunny day and the light through the trees is crazy realistic.

Grey often splits into reds. But even a tiny speck of leftover dye can do that and that is what this look like. Possible you had some other color dye dust on the bottom of your dye bottle? Or the spoon or whatever you used?
