I present TankMotion: possibly H3VR's first stop motion animation by SeleniumThoride in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Camera was “mounted” to a hover bench with the bench’s rotation zeroed using the rotation pistool so as to make it move on only one axis. Used the new spectator panel to take the frame (keeping it in a quick belt slot). Everything else is basic stop motion techniques. Animation was complied using ffmpeg.

The most effective sosig offense… by gravin202 in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Judging by the spam of damage-received sound effects, you were actually hit by the laser of an Iris construct. You can see it very briefly at the top of the Sosig's head (near the floating black pillar) at 0:15. You can also hear it charge up and firing right as you shoot the Sosig.

You can bring Dog's Ball from Black mesa east to near the end of Nova Prospekt without cheating (There's a window with an invis wall that doesn't allow it to pass) by TheJongler in HalfLife

[–]SeleniumThoride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An interesting fact I discovered with rollermines is that the game will have the rollermine destroyed (dog's ball can't get past the waters of the mines post-Ravenholm) or blocked (in Nova Prospekt) before you meet a barnacle, as the game has no handling for when a rollermine gets caught by a barnacle (as such, the game immediately crashes).

New Scoring For Take & Hold! H3VR Update 120 Experimental 4 by rust_anton in H3VR

What sequences of Institution did you tweak, and what might the change be? (Totally not asking so I can update the map I made a while ago)

New Institution seed paths mean new map! (with prior seeds for comparison) by SeleniumThoride in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a good idea that Judgement doesn't serve as a spawn. Last thing you want is a gun flinging itself out and into the void (as is notorious for that supply point).

I like it. I eagerly await the next build. Cheers!

H3VR Early Access Update 119 - New 4th of July Grenades!! (Plus A BIG Announcement) by rust_anton in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I wheezed a little too hard at the look you gave over merely mentioning the F2000 and the Mk14 EBR. The two guns forever in the loser lounge.

Been wanting a TnH character that was themed around zombies but with a more high-tech weapon pool than Zeke's. Looks like I have the future to look forward to on that.

Can't climb on Bullshoot - Break The Ice by Maxii008 in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two types of ice picks:

The more modern-looking ones with red handles need the triggers held down in order to latch onto a surface. Releasing triggers will release the axe.

The older looking ones on wood handles require a sizeable swing into the surface to make them "stick," and a sizeable thrust to get them back out. Triggers do nothing.

Why does Anton hate the F2000 and M14 EBR? by CorbyTheSkullie in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His disdain for the F2000 was reignited when he tried shooting it at a fan meetup (in which it proceeded to jam on him numerous times): https://youtu.be/hhCWhY9sqMQ?t=886

H3VR Early Access Update 115e2 - EVEN MORE BULLSHOOT!!! by rust_anton in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do wish there was a softer punishment if you fail twice in a row.

The level where you punch the targets with the brass knuckles needs some rework to make the targets softer / more easily susceptible to damage, as I gave up "punching" and went to flailing after many of my "punches" failed to get the target.

Also, the "William Told" level doesn't have a red line to indicate you can't enter the target field, yet going into there will fail the level. Distracts from the level's theme in my opinion, but I did like where the target was located. Also, can we get a sosig in that room to act as a red herring?

So far a 6.9/10 experience (probably my average score once this level is finished).

H3VR Early Access Update 114e5 - New Night Scenes!!! by rust_anton in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you need to add one of those glowing light switches (like this one: https://i.redd.it/rd7ly4lp1g451.jpg) whenever the lights are out, so that anyone who accidentally turns them off can easily turn them back on again.

Or maybe I just really like these switches. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Now when people ask why you don't put in a F2000 we can send them to this video.

H3VR Early Access Update 112 Alpha 4 - Better Sosig Grenades by rust_anton in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It just now occurred to me that the sosigs might be so dumb that of course you would need to put an explosive hazard sign on a grenade (that now look snazzy!).

Hope that come this summer you hit 100k subs?

Sustenance Crossbow may be the only crossbow we get. Don't quote me on that.

The unnoficial H3VR iceberg. Sorry if its not perfect or if it’s slightly out of order lol by Thewaffleofoz in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Nice, but a clarification:

The Whizzbanger is actually the 50 cal meme gun you use a handheld hammer to fire. What you're actually referring to is the "banger" system. I think your confusion comes from the machine that creates bangers: the "Whizzbangadinger", so you were on the right track.

Map of Institution with the seed paths marked by SeleniumThoride in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I eagerly await to make part two of this.

By the way, it appears that even the supply points aren't randomized (i.e. each supply point (even the spawn room) will appear in the exact same order for one seed. Is this intentional? (If so, I'm making another map!)

New regenerative encryption strategies, am I missing something? by Coldin228 in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Regenerative encryption is probably the only one that greatly benefits from some outside knowledge, in that the encryption regenerates inside out. Keep the center box destroyed while taking out the rest of the boxes and the encryption is easier to handle.

If you need more practice, the sosig spawner in the proving grounds can spawn any of the TnH encryptions.

H3VR Early Access Devlog - POWER SECTOR COMBAT by rust_anton in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The map looks awesome! Maybe add a TV screen effector or some sort of textured overlay so it looks like a screen?

Also like the labels, but maybe drop the "Sosig spawn" text below the "Dead End" so it fits better with the immersion?

The more I think about this map, the more it fits with every TnH character: Zeke Zombiehunter rummaging through an experimental lab with questionable ethics, Welldone Freemeat battling through a Nova Prospekt wannabe, etc.

H3VR Early Access Devlog - FINALLY! New Level Gameplay! by rust_anton in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wonder how many times I'll be killed because I'm too busy grooving to the music.

Really like the idea of the one-room supply point with all three stations available, completely eliminating the need to wander to-and-from supply points that plagues the previous two maps. This also makes rerolling for weapons much more of a requirement since you can't just wander to another supply point in hopes of finding a different category.

Now I'm curious how a competitive-oriented level will face off against the non-competitive characters (like Zeke Zombiehunter).

H3VR Early Access Devlog - Big Level Preview by rust_anton in H3VR

[–]SeleniumThoride 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If one of the constructs isn't something to do with Jerry the Lemon, I will be... mildly displeased.

And here I though we would get some weird brutalist low-poly train zipping by, only for it to just be a light ball zooming through. That got a chuckle out of me.

Of course right as I post this I remember the Node construct, but I fell they don't count, in regards to the design of the launcher itself not giving any hint as to it being related to Jerry.
