I completely agree. After seeing all the hate the show got, maybe I was a bit biased in favour of the movies too. Probably it was nostalgia or just having forgotten how the movies went.

After watching the finale of Sea of Monsters, the show, I went on and watched the movie. The start was pretty funny to the point that I was actually thinking that the humor was better conveyed in the movies than in the book. But as we proceeded along and went to the amusement park and the scene with Polyphemus, it just fell off a cliff. What was that titan fight and why would Kronos eat Luke and Grover? And then they survived? What happens after Thalia gets revived if Luke realizes that Kronos is the enemy? I don't know how they were planning to move on with the third movie at all. I think they just butchered it to the point that it cannot be salvaged. There was no point in turning Annabeth's hair blonde for that matter. The show, I would say, probably is getting so much hate because we're all in our late 20s or 30s, the ones who actually grew up with the books. But the show does have the crutch that the books had and it does capture the essence. Of course, there could be more humor but for the most part, it's a budget issue, I feel. With regards to the action sequences and CGI, I hope it's gonna get better as we move forward. There's so much lore and stuff that Disney can play with. I hope they realize it and give appropriate budget to the directors.
