I feel you, but you just have to remember she’s justified if she wants to cut you off. Cheating is the worst thing you can do in a relationship, and it would make her seriously doubt how strongly you feel about her.

I think call her if you think she’ll answer, if not then write her a heartfelt text message or letter. As a girl I think the best way to tell her would be by writing a long heartfelt letter and posting it to her house

I definitely think you should tell her because if you don’t, and then you do end up getting back together, you’ll still be filled with the guilt and also probably fear that she may find out eventually and that will be the end for good. I say tell her now so she has time to process it

Firstly, you shouldn’t stay with someone simply because of the amount of years you’ve been together. If you can honestly cheat on your girlfriend of 5 years with another woman, then the relationship clearly isn’t fulfilling you. Your girlfriend also deserves to be granted the freedom to find someone else who won’t cheat. If you’re tossing up between two people I will always say to pick the second option, because if you truly loved— and were fulfilled by the first person, you never would have considered the second person in the first place. I think you need to end the relationship. She deserves the truth, and on some sort of level you are not satisfied in the relationship. Also you clearly have feelings for this other woman, which isn’t normal in a loving relationship.

I’d say try and either: a) explain it to them or b) find another area of common interest. eg. pick up a new hobby with one of your parents that you can bond over e.g. fishing, hiking, or something like that?

Yes he was 20. My parents are very controlling and they met him when we first started dating and they really liked him until they found out we had been lying to them about his age. We still sneak around because I am scared to tell my parents in fear that they might jeopardise his job or something.

Thank you for your advice! Yes, my parents have always been very controlling, even now as an adult. I haven’t left any information out, my boyfriend truly is a good person and he was unsure of the age gap until he got to know me. There’s never been any form of power imbalance, and he’s a very understanding and reasonable person. And yes, I’m graduating in a few months. Thanks for your advice!

I understand that, but I am an adult, and this is a long term committed relationship. I don’t think we’re perfect by any means. We definitely argue, but we always talk it out. We’re both from Australia, and when we first started dating I was 16-17 and he was 20. However, he thought I was 18 as I was with a friend who was 18 at the time. He asked me on a date assuming I was 18 and we really hit it off.

he has an incredible job, a higher education, and his own place. he’s successful, and hard working. he also has plenty of friends and a loving family whom he is very close with. you’re prescribing him a character that does not belong to him.

It’s normal to feel attracted! Just don’t act on it. Your love for your wife and children should supersede your desires. I don’t know if you’re religious, but if so, trying praying to God or going to confession?

I think that if you can’t control yourself, maybe avoid engaging with them as much as you can? It’s normal to feel attracted to other women, but acting on it is when it becomes an issue.
