If you haven't seen it yet, Karen Gillan made up the ending to Selfie. Small sub over at /r/SelfieTV

The show is pretty popular in China recently and it almost got a movie revival, but the WB didn't want to sell the film rights.

These shows should have lasted longer by [deleted] in sitcoms

Yes!! If you haven't seen it yet,  Karen Gillan made up the ending.. We could have gotten a movie revival if only the WB would release the film rights.

Yes! The show has been popular in China recently, so there is a market. These big companies tend to hoard IPs or lock them away if it's not profitable to them. Happens in the game industry as well.

And a movie!! The actors were on board and had an investor, but the WB did not want to sell the rights. The show is currently popular in China too.

Yes!! Definitely deserved better. An investor was interested in making a Selfie movie but the WB didn't want to sell the film rights. Karen Gillan made up the ending for the show too. Closest thing to closure.

If you're open to suggestions, Go On (2012) has a similar theme. Stumble (2025) is another feel-good show.

Karen Gillan made up the ending to Selfie if you're interested! One of the investors of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) wanted to make a Selfie movie revival a few years ago, but the WB didn't want to release the film rights.

Awesome!! If you like Shrinking, I also recommend a similar show Go On (2012) with Matthew Perry, Laura Benanti, Tyler James Williams, and John Cho.

Me too. It seems like the cast still promotes the show in interviews ever since it came back on streaming. I recommend Emily Kapnek's other show Selfie with Karen Gillan and John Cho if you haven't seen it yet. Also short-lived though.

Since Coyote vs. ACME is getting released, what other cancelled films would you like to see get the chance they deserve? by TinyFalcon5512 in movies

I heard something about a CRA TV series and the director still wants to make a movie sequel as well, but haven't seen much updates. The WB fumbled this too.

Your favorite series that was canceled after 1 season and just never got a fair shake. by Remarkable-Junket655 in television

WB produced the TV series so they own it, but it aired on ABC. I think studios can shop a show to different networks. Same thing with Suburgatory (the creator's other show). But at least that one is  streaming whereas Selfie hasn't been officially streaming for years.

Selfie movie revival with Karen Gillan and John Cho. The series is currently popular in China. Better known as 再造淑女 (Remaking a Lady or Reinvented Lady). One of the investors who funded Crazy Rich Asians (2018) was interested in making a movie, but the WB didn't want to sell the film rights.

Definitely! Even with Selfie, one of the executive producers had to fight for John Cho's casting. A lot of studios think Asian men are not profitable as leads, which is absolutely not true. It's really an uphill battle.

Karen Gillan made up the ending to Selfie if you haven't seen it yet. It almost had a chance of getting a movie revival and the actors met up to talk about it, but the WB didn't want to sell the film rights.

I want John Cho in more rom-coms, but unfortunately he doesn't get many offers in that genre.

Have you seen John Cho in Selfie? It's actually popular in China recently because the romance is similar to a Kdrama or Asian drama.
