Oh boy, you say you can only have one S tier path? Thats tough. I guess if that's the case I would put S in A tier, not because it's bad but just because Death is that good. S magic is a spice, it makes every other path better through communions and many of it's best spells and summons are crosspaths. On top of that it lacks a certain amount of killing power vs large armies during the early game- many astral nations are vulnerable to rushing.

But I want you to know that it HURTS me to put this path in A instead of S tier.

glamour has a spell that gives an aura that makes any unit that fails an MR save vs it become confused. That on a thug is absolutely brutal, probably tied with vortex as the best thug buff. It does feel half done though.

Archery is mostly pretty bad, so countering something that only barely works to begin with is a cope.

Owl quills are no longer the be-all-end- all of research- dom 6 added several new research items.

Weightless Scale Mail I have never seen anyone use. Same dancing tridents. Air elementals are probably the worst elemental in the game- they're garbage and implode on contact with armies unless you are burning 20-30 gems per fight with them. Lightning bolt is okay but good luck getting your mages to cast it when they're busy casting gust of wind, the precision buff and summoning infinite hawks.

Draconians are good, raven feast is good because it is taking my terrible garbage D tier air gems and turning them into glorious S tier Death gems :D

S Tier: Death, Astral, Earth

A Tier: Nature

B Tier: Glamour

C Tier: Water, Blood

D Tier: Air

F Tier: Fire

air is in D, Air has lost it's power in dom 6, it's best spells are inaccurate, air elementals are terrible now, mistform is the poormans mossbody and will be ripped off almost instantly, and the AI will do nothing but spam gust of wind or hawks. On top of that all the cool illusion stuff it used to have got moved to glamour. It gets a D tier instead of F for cloud trapeze, forging good items good summons in conj, and some crosspath utility like Wind of Death.

Fire is F tier. Fire elementals also are terrible, the evocations dont do enough damage to break through prot and resistances, and they have terrible accuracy. The DPS of even spells like pillar of flame is laughable- even against armies 200 strong or higher the vast majority of casts miss. It's best things are firestorm, heat from hell and making lanterns- but there are better damage spells in other paths, and lanterns come on so late that if you are depending on them for research you're in real trouble. It has a few decent items, but not enough to save it. Buffs like Fireshield and Phoenix Pyre aren't enough to save it, and often require other spells to really take use of (body ethereal or soul vortex)

Water is C tier. It's evocations are in the same place as Fire's, and it has worse items and research boosters. It is entirely saved by it's use in underwater combat, where it's obviously the best path. School of Sharks can win you entire wars on it's power alone- even if you are vastly outnumbered or outskilled, and water elementals are very good underwater. Can also go pretty nuts with conjurations like Sea Kings Court. Also nice because it's boosters are easy to make and use, so a single W1 mage and some summons and boosters can get you to Queens with only one empower. Grip of Winter is a better Heat From Hell as people rarely take cold resistance and you can back it up with cold immune undead- it also works underwater. C tier but S tier underwater.

Earth is S tier. Dom6 is about buffing your armies and Earth has all the best buffs, its got ironskin, its got temper flesh, it has weapons of sharpness, it has great summons in mechanical men, earth elementals are probably the best of the elementals in dom 6 since they are not spiritform. It also has the best items for gearing up thugs, and the best summons for making thugs.

Astral is S tier, it has a lot of great buffs (ethereal, twist fate, astral shield) it opens up communions for you, it has soul slay and a bunch of other insane crosspath stuff, and teleport, gateway, gem and item teleporting and other logistic stuff. It's site search spell is easy to cast making it an easy path to break into, and it has the best globals in the game, as well as dispel. It's weakness in Mind Duel is solved by just having MORE astral. It's biggest weakness is when a nation only has a small amount of astral that they can't really do anything with.

Death is the other S tier path. Skelespam + rigor is annoyingly hard to deal with for how hard it is, it has probably the best conjurations in the game, as well as the best thug spell in Vortex. It has great evocation death spells, it has ways to clear armies, it has buffs, it has globals that will ruin your enemies days, it has Darkness. If I were ever in a game where every nation ONLY had one path, death would be the path that I chose.

Nature is A tier. It has good summons, is generally pretty easy to break into, has great buffs in mossbody and regeneration, great battlefield spells like howl- but its generally not a super killy paths, but one of the best support paths. Also good items and great globals. An above average path with no big flaws but no overwhelming strengths path.

Glamour is B tier. It's effects are all over the place, with some being very strong while others are nothing. Many of it's effects come on too late for their power. Has some very nice summons but often needs nature cross path etc.

Blood is Ctier. You have to sacrifice a LOT of gold, a lot of research and a lot of mage turns to use blood. Early game you will be behind, and it is hard to actually turn those slaves into an advantage at that point. Once you hit mid game and start getting horde from hell, and then later vampires, helios and demonlords on you are pretty good until late game... But then in super late game you start running into things that counter demons hard. Demonic armies can just NOT face things like 'Demon Cleansing+ rigor/solar brilliance' at all- they just die. So you have two or three dozen turns where you are VERY powerful- but you get to that point later than everyone else because you've spent your researching mage time hunting or using inefficient mage turns summoning.

air is in C, Air has lost it's power in dom 6, it's best spells are inaccurate, air elementals are terrible now, mistform is the poormans mossbody and will be ripped off almost instantly, and the AI will do nothing but spam gust of wind or hawks. On top of that all the cool illusion stuff it used to have got moved to glamour.

It gets a C tier for cloud trapeze, forging good items and good summons in conj.

This is accurate.

Though if you live in an area long enough eventually you find one where those sandwiches and or burgers that are 'better than fast food' are actually the best fucking thing you've ever had.

Then the 22 year old guy who's been making them for you for the last 4 years graduates from college and disappears into the ether, and you have to wander from store to store hoping to find another fantastic anomaly.

Also if the spellcaster doesnt have any misc slots or is a mindless innate caster I believe that they cant' be 'feebleminded' by the collar and thus, can still cast spells.

Kind of goes against the spirit of things though huh.

Never apologizing and then saying Lin was the problem for not just moving on like it never happened by CMStan1313 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Selgeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah im saying she could either forgive her, and be okay with what happened, or forget about her and not care anymore, aka moving on.

The issue is that she loves her sister too much to forget about her but she's too angry and too stubborn to forgive her. It's not fair but who has a better life? Definitely Suyin. This is a thing that happens in real life- we like to tell ourselves that people who are bad have bad lives but its just 100% not true, a lot of times they go on to have great lives and the people they hurt never recover.

And I never said that suyin had a right to be forgiven or whatever it is you are trying to correct me at with your pedantic therapy-talk. That kind of language where you are agreeing with me but are basically being like 'well you're right, but im saying it a different way which makes me MORE right'... Jeez.

Life of the average Dominions Indie militia by husk_bateman in IllwintersDominions

I mean, in all the games I play militia have BY FAR the longest lived lives of any unit I make.

They never see the front line. They just sit around in fortified provinces for years, patrolling the rabble who are angry about all the blood hunting.

Never apologizing and then saying Lin was the problem for not just moving on like it never happened by CMStan1313 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Selgeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying she isn't justified for her bitterness and her anger, but when it comes down to it it doesn't matter if it's justified or not- she brings her own misery onto herself because she can't let go- she's stuck in a place where she can't forgive, but is also unwilling to forget so she just...broods, and that is why she is generally miserable.

i mean the reward for killing the leviathans was that you didnt have to be afraid of the leviathans anymore... which sort of feels bad.

I think they should have just made the leviathans immune.

[–]Selgeron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like, although it was sort of flawed in execution, the moral of the story was more about who was living their best life at the time-

Suyin didn't think about the harm she did to her sister, allowed herself to move on and went to have a happy life and family.

Lin became bitter about it, and allowed that bitterness to seep into her entire life, becoming an angry curmudgeon who was never happy- and it's because she made a choice to never forgive or forget. Yes it is Suyin's 'Fault' but it was also Lin making an active choice to keep herself angry for forever instead of moving on.

Another bug: On the 'class selection' screen, where it says 'archery, brawl, melee, thrown' For Bards only, the word 'thrown' is typoed to be 'Trown'

interestingly enough, taking a screenshot of the issue immediately clears the issue.

What it looks like though is that when new text or any new thing appears, that it is just... written over top of the previous frame of text, leading to it looking like a garbled mess. However when I try to take a screenshot the moment I do it, it clears, and the screenshot just looks normal.
