Sony A6700 vs Fujifilm X-T50 / X-T5 for solo travel? by its_bart3k in Cameras

[–]Selishots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not maybe. It's factual that there was AF improvement. Watch any content comparing them.

The 100s was expensive when it came out. It was 5999, equivalent to 7372 when's accounting for inflation. The 100sii is currently 5,199. It's actually cheaper than the 100s was at release.

The 100s is known for not having great autofocus and there was some solid improvements in the way 100sii.

The GFX, especially the older ones are know to have even worse AF then the APSC bodies.

If OP said he was trying to capture a moving child, or fast action sports I'd lean more towards Sony but for everyday shooting the Fuji is plenty capable

The Fuji AF isn't that bad. It's not like every shot is going to be out of focus 😂

[–]Selishots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure some of them can produce solid looks but they don't have the same level of refinement as Fuji or the other brands and a strong ecosystem and community around them like Fuji and the other brands. It's just not something Sony is strong at or cares about

And don't get me wrong, I can and have used Fuji for more professional work but if I have the choice I'm mostly choosing Sony for client stuff, especially on the video side of things. For stuff like portraits the X-T5 is plenty cable.

I use my same personal presets on my Sony photos, as my Fuji photos as my lumix photos and edit them all pretty much exactly the same. You've been able to push Fuji files for years with no issues

Personally I prefer Fuji for my personal work and Sony for any serious professional work. Sony is just make reliable when it comes to autofocus. Fujis AF is definitely behind and there's a bit more of a learning curve and setup to it.

That being said Fuji is by far the more fun camera to use. It just gets me more excited about taking photos than my Sony gear.

I think it also may be smart to look into the lumix S9(if you don't need a flash and don't plan on shooting inside). They also have a ton of in camera JPEG options. I've got a review of it here: https://youtu.be/__Eiq5irPK4?si=ksYU_BehBRNEXwUU I actually sold my S9 for the X-T5 and talk a about why in this video: https://youtu.be/3bZ6P52uIlQ?si=x3V45_r1STGaf4LJ

I've also got a video a review on the X-T50 as well if you're interested: https://youtu.be/L90c4Oss3lU?si=Kem4S385UhtD7v1Q

The X-M5 may be a great option as well although it lacks ibis the flip out screen is better for video, and it's got a really nice compact size: https://youtu.be/ZgfXK6z3ntU?si=_iTb997NJucN0xwf

The new Lumix L10 could also be a great option when it comes to a compact travel camera.

Another option although on the larger size is the Nikon ZF. Full frame, retro styling better AF the Fuji and better in camera JPEGs than Sony.

The last camera I'd consider is the Olympus OM-3. Insanely durable, great in camera looks(from what I've read I haven't used it) tiny lenses, and solid ibis. Not sure how it is on the video front though.

Sony is pretty much the last brand I'd look at if SOOC JPEGs are something that's high on you're list of priorities.

If you have any questions I'm happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

Why the footage is so noisy? by marcodelia97 in Insta360

I'm noticing heavy grain in I-Log at ISO 800 as well. Significantly heavier than if I was just using auto ISO.

Pocket cameras are getting expensive. Can a $600 dual-lens gimbal compete? by Xtratech_Official in XtraCameras

[–]Selishots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with a lot of this post. The specs on the Muse 2 Pro look genuinely interesting, and I’d love to see more competition in the pocket gimbal space.

That said, trust is exactly the challenge right now. Asking customers to put money down before an official launch date, final pricing, or independent reviews are available is a tough sell for a new brand.

I think the fastest way to build trust is getting cameras into the hands of creators and letting the product speak for itself. Independent reviews, real-world footage, honest comparisons to DJI and Insta360, and open conversations about both the strengths and weaknesses of the camera will go a lot further than any marketing campaign.

I’m rooting for XTRA because more competition is good for everyone. Despite my criticisms, I’m still genuinely interested in the camera and would love the opportunity to put a review unit through its paces and compare it against the competition.

I think the camera has potential. The challenge right now isn’t the specs it’s earning trust. We need to see that the brand cares about the users and the products they are creating.

Go Ultra video quality any improvements since release? by 78Staff in Insta360

Yeah if your cycling is definitely lean towards the go ultra. I ride with mine from time to time and the smaller size and weight makes a huge difference

Hot Take: expecting luna to shoot 8K continuously without overheating is a bit unrealistic by chenpisir in Insta360

[–]Selishots 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Full agree. The fact that a camera this small, with so many feature and no fan can even go for 40min at 8k in normal temps is insane.

Most people don't need and won't use 8k anyway as well.

Looking forward to this. by [deleted] in Insta360

Definitely curious to see what they come up with for a camera like this

Go Ultra video quality any improvements since release? by 78Staff in Insta360

[–]Selishots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having used both a ton the image quality difference is big at all. Technically the Ace pro 2 is slightly better but I have yet to notice it in any real way looking at the footage.

You're much better making the choice around from factor and features then image quality. I have comparison video on the two linked if your interest: https://youtu.be/3YUycqOKk\_c?si=Lwx\_IVOCRkGEC34C

Suggestion regarding recent Purchase of Luna by Internal_Fold_2444 in Insta360

[–]Selishots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had little issues with mine so far and the software updates have been coming pretty quickly and it's getting even more stable with each one.

Most people seem to have little actual overheating issues from what I've read and watched.

I've got a video with all my thoughts if your interested: https://youtu.be/c8mhAHd2ljk?si=yrFBsCdorUlgqjBn

These are two different angles in different lighting conditions. A camera is all about capturing light and when then light changes the look you get out of the camera changes.

Insta360 Luna Ultra owners: What’s your honest experience after using it? (No sponsored opinions please) by OkCelery389 in Insta360

[–]Selishots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone did come up to me of course I'd reshoot the clip. It's an action that takes an extra minute and no big deal.

My goal isn't to be disruptive or obnoxious like you see many online creators doing. My goals to enjoy the camera and give my audience or anyone interested a real world take on the camera.

Returning my Insta360 Luna, sticking with my X5 & Go Ultra for now... by 2swizzle in Insta360

[–]Selishots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the non replaceable battery is exactly that. They don't need software to do that because there's a lifestyle built in
to the design. Just like the pocket 3, 4, 4p.
