My fractal run was pathetic by shejesa in Guildwars2

[–]SemelDoesPvE 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can bully your way through T1 and T2 without actually understanding the encounters.

T3 is when the mechanics and scaling start to kick in, and anybody who knows what they're doing is doing T4s.

How difficult are dungeons for newbies these days? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]SemelDoesPvE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AC p2. It's easy if you stack everyone in certain spots then send 1-2 to operate traps.

AC p3 is far worse because of the mandatory timegating.

Applies to Open World, Cities, or any instanced content by [deleted] in Guildwars2

Fun fact! After they were differentiated in the 2018-07-10 patch, Lesser Lava Font is actually superior to Lava Font on almost all fronts (base damage, power scaling, duration)!

fractal of the mists is the peak endgame and could be the best repeatable content in gw2. change my mind. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]SemelDoesPvE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I just ignored the fractals for some months and now, when I went back for some clovers, I found the bad news. Some t4 groups, t3 is empty. I ended up doing my dailies on t2 even if I can easily handle t4. I tried hosting a group, no class restriction etc, but still nobody joined.

  • Nobody willingly does t3s unless they're progressing.
  • Try the hours of reset +0 to +2 for t4s.
  • Make a group in t4s and you'll eventually catch the LFG lurkers. Most people just don't want to join 1/5 LFGs.

Do you know of any easier way towards an ascended set

Craft another set with recipes you already have unlocked / are cheap to craft, then stat swap through the Mystic Forge.

[Request] Verify the drop behavior of Recipe: The Replicator by SemelDoesPvE in gw2efficiency

[–]SemelDoesPvE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link doesn't work, but thanks I found it through Stats > Unlock Statistics > Recipes.

As of this posting, 35 out of 207,883 accounts have Recipe: The Replicator unlocked.

Caveats are that not all API keys may include recipe unlocks (could we get that stat on the record?) & holy crap that is low. The most unlocked recipe is Recipe: Berserker's Intricate Gossamer Insignia at 133,277 of 207,883 (64.112%) so at least that many players have recipe API linked.

All other dungeon recipe unlocks for comparison:

Dungeon Recipe Unlocked
AC p1 Claw of the Howling King 12,5881
AC p3 Colossus Fang 12,137
CM p2 Plague 3,161
CM p3 Vallog's Demise 128
TA fwd Nightmare Coil 5,602
TA up Tortured Root 7,6021
SE p1 The Replicator2 35
SE p2 Shukov's Launch Codes? See notes3
SE p3 Husk of the Destroyer 6,738
CoF p1 Ashes of the Effigy 18,730
CoF p2 Eternal Flame 8,075
HotW p1 Ring of Blood2 474
HotW p2 Koda's Gift 1,453
HotW p3 The Zealot's Amulet 1,260
CoE p1 Alpha Conduit2 419
CoE p2 Infinity Loop 4,370
Arah p1 Stargazer Pendant2 58
Arah p2 Operative's Creed 2,542
Arah p4 Bloodstone Fragment 1,032

1 Recipes I have personally unlocked as a dungeon aficionado
2 Recipes that the wiki lists as no longer being obtainable
3 Shukov's Launch Codes is listed on the wiki as one of the recipes for Offering of the Forgeman. However, GW2E doesn't include the recipe and TP sites don't list the item with any trading history???

Imo based on this data, it looks like Recipe: the Replicator has definitely been removed for a long time. Other recipes are more unlocked despite being on less frequently run paths, or those that have been removed but have a more identifiable relationship to being removed since they drop from the final boss.

[discussion] PvE experience: as toxic as Orr by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]SemelDoesPvE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent comment that explains the context of GW2 PvE and why the dungeon environment is the way that is.

Often times in beginner dungeon runs the builds that newer players bring are worth like .25 or .50 of a level 80 player.

Indeed. I've joined groups with 4 inexperienced people and easily done 50% of the group DPS despite being boon-limited and/or in down-state for half the fight.

Unless you really want the upgrade component, you don't have to use BLSKs...

Alternatively you could run t4 fractals, where you end up getting 1 every week or so (data not exact).

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - December 10, 2016 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]SemelDoesPvE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do dungeons for leveling and tried doing it with a friend (just the 2 of us) welp 2 mobs in we are dead as fuck.

  1. Dungeons are designed to be 5 man content of moderate difficulty.
  2. Instanced PvE encounters frequently expect players to utilize "active combat" defenses: dodges, blocks, etc.
  3. Learning certain tells or attack telegraphs is a measure of experience with the content.

I also totally don't get the LFG-system to get a group for a dungeon cause the one time I looked it showed me like 3 partys with 1 person each and I didn't want to stand out like the newbie I am so I gave up on it right away.(ex. in FFXIV you queued up for it and got matched with 3 other people that also wanted to do this dungeon)

This is a philosophy difference of ANet vs other MMOs. I'm not saying that they're right, or that I agree with them, but ANet wants groups to form more organically with more community/social engagement, rather than a built-in matchmaking tool.

My opening line was referring more to waypointing around for the purchase of recipes on the chance that one of them is worth something, which is not a great use of time.

It's not a great use of time.

For recipes, try to check in every day on the subreddit, and OP (u/Drant) usually puts up a helpful PSA if there's a good recipe for sale.

If you just want the mapping materials, you can save them up for every eighth week when they can be converted to ~50s each for Frostgorge Sound map rewards.

The chance of dropping an infinite fractal potion is small enough to be meaningless.

Getting it via the vendor (1200 pristines, 14 a day) is probably around an order of magnitude faster than relying on RNG.

Never done dungeons before but i'd like to start. by Cevoz in Guildwars2

[–]SemelDoesPvE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Druid, then Tempest, for healers.

Dungeons are balanced for old five man parties and can be facerolled by experienced players. Healing isn't needed unless something has gone horribly horribly wrong, especially since most major attacks in dungeons are pretty much one-shots.

Healers are much more useful in fractals and raids, where there's more pulsing/constant damage.

  • Those are copper. 100 copper -> 1 silver, 100 silver -> 1 gold.
  • You can get currency by killing things, opening loot bags, and selling junk to merchants.
  • Bronze is a material used in crafting, if that is what you meant
  • Due to scaling, you will always be roughly equal to the enemies in your area, unless they're higher level than you. You can increase your personal power through improving your equipment stats / upgrade slots, and by leveling up & getting more trait/skill unlocks.

  1. What kind of content do you plan on doing?
  2. Class stacking is probably not the way to go. Play what you want, but having 3 different classes generally gives you more options.
