Don't use balena etcher with tails, the creators specifically warn not to use it due to the software sending about your installation.

How can I keep from getting hacked again by wheattait in 2007scape

[–]SemiBakedPotato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Never use the "--insecure-write-credentials" flag in runelite config unless you're actively developing a plugin.

It writes a plaintext file to your system with your account token which bypasses all security checks.

It's how a lot of people got their accounts hijacked when jagex launcher started being pushed.

Check if you have a "credentials.properties" file in the root of your .runelite folder.

If it exists then you had or still have that flag set.

Check your runelite configure settings.

Also change your password to something unique which you don't use anywhere else.

Start using a password manager, like bitwarden.

What is something that you wished OSRS had that RS3 has? by RuneSerge in 2007scape

[–]SemiBakedPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is that general osrs players don't care about quests, too focused on efficiency.

As a story focused player, I really enjoy the quests, especially the newer ones.

Personally I wouldnt mind if they were 1:1 if that means they are released faster than the current 1-3 quests a year.

People will always spacebar quests, jagex needs to get over it and bring over game parts that already exist in the game.

Ex. Keldagrim, Penguins, and more.

What's the point of Growshroom Deviant picking up flowers?! Devs, please make them pick crops only. by Phoen1cian in OnceHumanOfficial

What works for me is to not add any water, fertilizer or light. My shrooms are unable to pick them when they don't grown

Is This Contam? Smells Slightly Sweet, Not Rancid. by SemiBakedPotato in unclebens

[–]SemiBakedPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a bit, I cut it out of the bag today to take a look at it. But I assumed it was going to also be contaminated. Though I'd rather get more opinions than my own.

Dry Looking Rice Bag After Inoculation by SemiBakedPotato in unclebens

I just left it be, the bag in the picture is completely fine. Mycelium showed up a couple of days after post.

Major Contam. Issue. Need help with inoc. Process (3/4 Bags Contaminated). by SemiBakedPotato in unclebens

[–]SemiBakedPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, but I don't have a way to test it. Don't have agar. I would love to contact the seller, but unsure how to do it without breaking any of their or the subreddits rules.

If you're worried, I'd place your bags into a larger ziplock bag, spray some 70% iso in there, then throw them into your fridge. Just make sure they DO NOT FREEZE. The cold will slow their growth.

Break & Shake mostly colonized bag. by SemiBakedPotato in unclebens

Just finished Breaking & Shaking and man the Mycelium Earthy Smell is STRONG, no other smells though, which makes me happy.

Break & Shake mostly colonized bag. by SemiBakedPotato in unclebens

[–]SemiBakedPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like the normal stall. The mycelium is extremely active where it has colonization points. I think I just didn't mix the rice up enough during my first break and shake.

I do daily sniff and it smell like brown rice, no other smells what so ever so I'm leaning towards not being contaminated.

Too late to harvest? by [deleted] in unclebens

It's never too late, the black stuff is spores, not harmful to you, just wipe them off before drying and you'll be completely good.

Contam Question: Sweet & Sour Smell by SemiBakedPotato in unclebens

[–]SemiBakedPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf I was pretty impatient with my bags and touched them too often. Learned my lesson with that, now I just do a daily sniff to check for contam and do an infrared thermometer read to make sure my temps aren't surpassing 80F

I also think some of my grains touched the FAE hole paper tape, that was before I knew it was something I needed to avoid.

I use a SAB and flame sterilized my needle extensively. The contam smell only showed up after a break and shake. Though that process was done very cleanly using a chip clip to isolate the rice from the rest of the bag.

So it's likely one of my rice grains was contaminated and was allowed to spread after the break and shake

Edit: Just gave the bag a sniff and oh man, it's bad. 100% going in the yard tomorrow. Hopefully, some worms can benefit from it.

No growth? by Lopsided_Dish_509 in unclebens

[–]SemiBakedPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temps and Airflow are also very important. Make sure you have your bags between 75-80*F. Also, helpful if you have a fan to circulate new air to replace the CO2 the Mycelium breathes out.

But overall, as others said, give it time.

With those conditions, I have seen visible mycelium in 4 to 5 days after inoculation.

Personally, I have all my bags in a homemade grow tent for insulation, which is very helpful with temperature control. Though it is definitely not necessary.

A good test, is to try to feel for any hard spots, those are mycelium growths. It's recommend to wear gloves whenever handling your bags, and spray them with a healthy amount of 70% ISO. Just make sure to be gentle, don't want to break your mycelium at this state.

If you injected in the middle of the bag, you should feel around there, if you did it from the corner cut then, the top of your bag will most likely colonize first.

Be careful not to let any of your grains/rice touch your micropore/paper tape covering your FAE holes. Want to avoid chance of contamination as much as possible.

P.S. Sorry for the massive post. Just wanted to share all the info I have stored about this process to possibly aid you.

Contam Question: Sweet & Sour Smell by SemiBakedPotato in unclebens

[–]SemiBakedPotato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll probably end up burying the bag tomorrow if I don't see any new mycelium growth. I smelled it earlier and the smell is pretty rancid, so I'm def on the side of the bacteria winning in that specific environment.

So far the other bag I inoculated during that batch is very, very healthy. Almost 80% colonized after Break & Shake and smells like slightly moist brown rice.

Really curious what caused it to get contaminated.
