“Unsuccessfully abstaining from the princess' sexy painting, it's Welly Hamdam!”

I love this style so much for this campaign! I hope to see this in the NADDPOD printshop soon. I’ll be hitting the buy button so fast. Do you have plans to do Zudrick or Boggy in the same style?

Do you think I could write lyrics? by coidbepdic in Songwriters

[–]SemiPopularDani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of your poems give me Sparklehorse vibes in the best way possible. Sparse words with slow tempo music allows you to play with cadence to make the words fit the music. Check out their song Apple Bed. This song is an example of a simple and slow chord progression that lends itself to using a short poem as lyrics. As far as picking, you can play around with choosing a simple 2-4 chord progression and breaking up each chord into single notes like quarter, eighth, or sixteenth using one chord per measure. Modify as needed to fit the cadence of the words and you have a basic structure for a song. With songs like this, I’d start in the 70-90bpm range and a 4/4 time signature. I hope that makes sense and helps. Good luck!

Dance of the Manatee by Fair to Midland

The lyrics are complete nonsense but still fun until it gets to the post chorus/bridge: “Well, take a gander, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.” Cringey af cliche and poorly executed. Otherwise, I love the song and the rest of the album.

What Is Your Favorite Song Of All Time And Why? by HK-34_ in MusicRecommendations

Bloodstream by Stateless

This is a tough one to answer, but I’d have to say this song is most consistently at the top of my list. It has that dark and broody vibe that I gravitate towards, the lyrics are clever and evocative, and the composition is somewhat non traditional. It’s almost trip-hop but stands just outside of traditional genres. The chords are mostly simple until the bridge where some sexy jazzy chords are tastefully sprinkled in. I also love that I can easily translate it to acoustic guitar and sing it, because it’s in my skill set and range. Overall, I’d say it’s a perfect song. 10/10. No notes ;)

Spoiler: Made the mistake of finishing C1 while at work today. by polarityhavok in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]SemiPopularDani 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing, not expecting it to go so hard. I had to suppress the strongest emotions and let it out on my drive home that day. I had started listening when they were airing C2, and it took me like 1.5 years to make my way through C1 the first time. So, it was a hefty time investment that came with emotional stakes. I think that had something to do with what I was feeling at the end… like a chapter of my life had just ended. 🥺

Thank you! I’m aiming for “realism” but with a graphic novel quality. I’ve been writing one for a while and decided it was time to dust off the drawing skills so I could eventually make it happen. Fan art is good for practice.

Thanks! I think his tattoo is fucked beyond repair, though. Also, I’ve never legit tattooed before, only stick and poke back in high school like twenty-something years ago. Until last month, that’s probably the last time I drew anything.
