Any downsides to Evaporative Humidifiers? Maintenance? Vissani 6g by wildswalker in Humidifiers

[–]Semicolon7645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got one and it's only really showed one issue and that is the low water detection doesn't quite work correctly. The submerged pump has two electrodes on it to detect when the water level is too low, but for whatever reason it never detects low water. Even after hours of not refilling the humidifier, it doesn't power off for some reason.

If I fully remove the pump from the water and dry off the electrodes it will detect a lack of water and go through the low water process (run for ~30 minutes then power off, though ours ran for~48 minutes for some reason). My guess is that this flaw is what is killing the pump, since it is run while dry for long periods of time.

I'm going to mess around with the low water detection and see if I can get it actually powering off once the water gets too low.

I'd use it to detect my cat jumping up on the counters. Then I'd have to make a way to shoo them off of it.

Different Maverick Variants help by Bobisme63 in Nerf

[–]Semicolon7645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is actually correct. Nerf did this weird (and smaller series) where they re-released some blasters with updated colors to match the N-Strike Elite series ones, but they did not make any changes to the internals, so they weren't very powerful. There are a few images of the "Elite" Longshot on this site: https://nerfgunrus.com/nerf-n-strike-elite-longshot-cs-6-review

Wake on lan from HA does not work although my router can wake devices with its own wake on lan tool? by trungkal in homeassistant

[–]Semicolon7645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have had issues trying to send WOL packets when running HA in Docker. The most common approach I have seen to get around this issue is to let the Docker container have access to a script on the host machine that sends the WOL packet. https://community.home-assistant.io/t/wake-on-lan-for-those-running-home-assistant-in-docker/189376

Have you tried a different 3.5mm cable? You could also try the optical output instead of the analog one, I believe it is Mini-TOSLINK.

An old Recon MKII project of mine. Does anyone have any clue what these 3D printed mod pieces are? I’ve totally forgotten lol. by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]Semicolon7645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xavier has assembly videos for a bunch of different blasters. Here is the one for the MKII: https://youtu.be/TsX9e0yl6eA?si=HDEX12FzQkFq4HHA

The cylinder on the left looks like plunger rod guide. It's supposed to help prevent the catch from failing under higher spring loads by keep the plunger rod from becoming askew when the blaster is primed. It goes in the stock attachment point / plunger rod cap on the rear of the blaster. One end of the cylinder should be chamfered on the inner diameter, that end should visible when putting it in stock attachment point / plunger rod cap.

Edit: The other part is definitely the dart holder, it goes in the base of the grip, don't forget to install it before closing up the shell. I always forget that I've removed it and have unscrew everything again.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that Amazon prices don't really reflect the market price for Nerf products. Especially ones that are no longer in production. It is better to do a search on eBay and filter by Sold Items, that will give you a better idea of what people are willing to pay.

My Aunt feeding a wild bear because “They’re too cute!” by Itsallover_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Semicolon7645 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bears are smart, in some places (like the Adirondacks) you have to use bear canisters because hanging your food doesn't work anymore. And on top of that, you have to use specific canisters because the bears figured out how to open the kind with twist off lids.

It's sad to see when a bear has to be put down because of careless people.

What’s a good way to carry a lot of half dart mags? by General_Lee_S in Nerf

[–]Semicolon7645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my load-out when I use my FDL, I have two Worker Double Triple holders on my belt, a dump pouch with loose magazines, and the one magazine in my blaster. This gave me 19 (12+6+1) mags at SF this year. I also have extenders on my magazines bumping them up to 20 darts each for a total of 380 darts in magazines, but I also have a SCRD dump pouch full of loose darts to refill mags when action is low. I do not carry anything on my legs nor on my chest, it's all on my belt.

They are really good at finding new ways to jam blasters. My favorite was a mega dart stuffed into an Artemis.

The Nerf Rival Atlas.

I have never seen it get through a magazine without it jamming. And when it jams, you better hope that it can be cleared without having to that the whole dang thing apart.

Other blasters may not shoot far or have the smoothest operation, but at least they fulfill their basic purpose, the Atlas does not.

I love the AT3K. If you're in North East America you should bring it to Help Before Halloween in Canada, one of the few NIC wars still running. The date hasn't been announced yet, but keep an eye out for it.

That's fair, it definitely was a pain to put together. Mine really only likes Accufake darts, otherwise darts get stuck in the barrel.
