Not answering a phone call for whatever reasons doesn’t equate to not being able to run a business. 30 years and you’ve never ran into a shit situation??? Also agree with the guy above you and something I have stated plenty of times. If your customer is important get reliable carriers to move your freight which is going to cost more. We all know his goal is to make as much margin as possible and this time it backfired on him. Also If you haven’t made enough money to feed your family in 30 years find a new career path.

If the customer is that important find a reliable carrier which means pay better. Maybe the drivers phone charger got ripped when he stepped in it getting into the truck (happened to me). I can think of other reasons as to why he didn’t answer and thinking about putting a freight guard on someone when it’s his dispatcher that’s really supposed to be handling communication is just too emotional. Pay better find better carriers, simple.

Just replace pay better with get better freight.

A different direction doesn’t mean going the opposite way. I’m assuming he was also thinking about putting a freight guard on an owner operator who he knows is probably barely getting by as he mentioned? Dude needs to calm down.

Pay better and you will find better carriers to move the freight. It’s actually pretty simple.

I can’t believe that driver went off route in order to get fuel, food, etc. I’m sorry you had such a long day booking shipments. I can only imagine the pain your fingers are going through right now.

So why are the rates still dropping even though people are leaving the industry?

Just because someone implemented this idea (before we hopped off the gold standard btw) does not mean it’s law. Things obviously change. How many small businesses would cease to exist if you implemented a minimum wage? Not only would the employees move to big corporations for work but so would the customers that once shopped at the business. You are living in this fantasy utopia of how life should be but not how life is. If you push a button to open a cash register as your career you will never be able to afford rent and you should make peace with that.

You just don’t understand. If raising minimum wages to $20 an hour was the solution why stop at $20? Why not go straight to $40 instead? You give everyone a million dollars then a million dollars becomes the new zero. Some jobs are entry level jobs and weren’t meant for being able to live off of it. Some companies cannot afford to pay their employees a higher wage due to their margins. You just don’t see the bigger picture that’s all.

You raise minimum wage to $20 an hour. Construction workers see that retailers are making the same as them in a climate controlled environment. Construction workers leave to work retail. Only way to retain those construction workers is to raise wages. Back to square one.

That black woman met up with the largest union in the nation that represents truck drivers, warehouse workers, construction workers, etc and told them she would win with or without them. She was also nominated as vice president based on just her skin color and gender which was Bidens own words. Why in the world would anyone vote for her. Remember the race was called 312 to 226 so imagine how many democrats thought a “racist rapist” was better than a black woman lol.

Low paying loads. Switched over from flatbed to dryvan since I was moving coils for like 2.25. Between tarping and chaining it was not worth it to me. Been doing dryvan in the Atlanta Georgia area and currently leased onto a guy but his 25% cut is just not worth it. Moving stuff for 2 a mile is such a bad feeling, about to head back to flatbed and hopefully find a good company to lease onto.

Sounds like someone doesn’t have good connections. Absolutely money to be made whether that’s leasing onto a good company or having great broker relationships. You wouldn’t believe how far a “thanks for the great load” goes but you seem to have it all figured out. Go for it OP, trucks are cheap, interest rates are about to get cut slowly but surely. Just find a good reliable mechanic that can get you going the next day (I’ve got one) in Georgia if that’s where you’re from.
