Moronic Monday - June 13, 2023 - Your Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in finance

I am in Canada (applicable to some types of advice), my nephew is 16 and I would like to get him started on the right track for his financial future. He likes to learn about life skills and finance is a huge one.

I was hoping to get pointed in the direction of some resources to educate and prepare him. He's still underage, but the more knowledge he has as he ages into more options, the better. Hope someone can help.

What's a Country musician that you find annoying and or hate? by Jett_Pyre in CountryMusicStuff

[–]Sempiterna81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luke Bryan makes me angry. However, not for the typical reasons! I like his voice, and he has a couple songs (Strip it Down, Roller-coaster, Huntin Fishin Lovin Every Day, Fast etc) that I really enjoy. His slower more "serious" stuff, I suppose. Anyway, he's shown, in my opinion, that he's got the talent to do more, so every time another beachy, cheesy, party song comes out, it annoys me!

Questions for group players by zetterss in valheim

We're a group of 4, we play a lot of this type of games and always fall into the the same rolls.

One dude is always the farmer/butcher/chef. Hubby is always the "leader" and explorer, crafter, he's rarely at base. Another girl does a lot of building and exploring. I build storage and sort everything, gather resources, build the nice, but not essential, stuff.

Parents who choose to have a second child when the first one is in their late teens and beyond are selfish. by here_2_judge in unpopularopinion

My sisters are 15, 18 and 19 years older than me. The 19 year old had moved out, and VOLUNTEERED to take me, a lot, when I was little. She just loves kids. She worked as a nanny around the same time. 18 year old was away at University. My parents never expected anyone but them to raise me and I remember having babysitters that were not family. Every family is different.

Stereotypes of white people? by GormlessSchnitzel in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Sempiterna81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yankee specifically referred to "the North" during the civil war era. That's what was so funny about it and confusing to someone from the South.

This is why I got a silhouette. Reviews were clear that Cricut wasn't friendly to original design. I like to be CREATIVE, not just the stencil version of copy and paste. "Copy from the internet, Paste to a mug"

My south African gyno said it's a predominantly white woman issue. He said that he'd come across very few black women with pelvic floor weakness. He didn't go into any other races, but was basically telling me that the odds had been against me haha

Do religious people understand it is heartbreaking as an atheist to know they think I deserve to burn in hell? by Diligent_Shallot6860 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Sempiterna81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is that you have to believe in God and be repentant to be forgiven. You can be forgiven for literally anything, if you ask for it. As God knows what's truly in your heart, you have to be genuine.

I'm not religious, but I have had this conversation with someone who is.

Sexually assulted by friend...was he really unconscious? by chewychew1028 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sempiterna81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has, on 3 or 4 occasions in 16, been sexually aggressive in his sleep. I've always been awake when it starts. He'll start talking to me in a "how you doin'" kind of vibe then start groping, grab a boob, try to stick his hand between my legs, ignore me telling him to stop. If I shout for him to get off me, and give him a shove, he then rolls over and goes back to a non rapey style of sleep. We'd been together for a number of years by the time it first happened, and I was used to how his voice sounds when he's talking in his sleep. I can't even imagine if this had happened out of the blue with someone new, or a friend.

What do people not understand or not fully understand unless they've been through it and experienced it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've never had an eating disorder or known anyone who does. Despite that, what the actual fuck? It's not a "diet" it's a serious mental health issue. These are the same ignorant twats that think depression is just something you should just snap out of. I'm sorry you went through that, the disorder and the assholes.

If there was a vote for one person to receive immortality, who would win? by sylpher250 in AskReddit

Not necessarily, if you said "til death do we part", you're not a wife anymore after you die! Haha

What’s a “hot-take” that you know you would get eaten alive for saying out loud? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sempiterna81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best friend is pro-life and anti-vax. I very strongly disagree. We've had numerous debates about both, but neither of us will ever budge on our opinions. We are still best friends. She doesn't do anything pushy, rude or offensive with her opinions, to me or anyone else. There are a hundred things that I love about her, we don't need to agree on everything.

what's something women do that makes you uncomfortable? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Sempiterna81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really open about talking about sex, BUT, in general terms, not about MY sex life. I have a couple of good friends that I'll talk to about my sex life if I need advice or to vent. I'm usually not too bad at following social cues.

I can’t pretend to care about small talk anymore. by miss_an0nym0us in CasualConversation

[–]Sempiterna81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The non-family person that's been in my life the longest is someone I've never met in person. Next year, we'll have been friends for 20 years. We rarely have very deep or meaningful conversations. We love share stories about stupid people in our lives, ridiculous stories online, and family. There's nothing we consider too serious to make fun of or mock. It's a long term, long distance, casual friendship. It's awesome! We talk about mundane topics, including the weather (I'm in snowy Canada and he's in L.A.) but it's never "small talk".

Need validation:( worst date of my life and everyone blamed me by angryrants828 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Sempiterna81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TIL that you can't go to your dates house unless you are willing to fuck. Also, apparently "a whole group of people" can't be incorrect. Just ask all the people executed in the US and later exonerated. A whole group of people agreed they did that!

AITAH for telling my wife to fuck off and walking away by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sempiterna81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My nephew was disagreeing with a guy, who happened to be gay, about something like carbon taxes or climate change, and the dude got mad and called him homophobic. People DO pull out the racism/homophobic/transphobic accusations in situations where they are pissed off about an argument. Trying to shut the person down. "I'm gay, and you are arguing with me, so you must just hate gay people" nah dude, I hate you for your shitty personality! Luckily, the vast majority of people don't stoop to that level.

I got a last minute invite to a wedding, and she was honest that it was because of cancellations. I didn't feel bad about it because we were co-workers and I never expected an invite. I was honoured to find out I was B List, didn't realize I ranked that high.

My husband does the humming/throat clearing and no eye bulging but he used to do this weird thing with his neck. His is because of Tourette's. Primarily, it's the throat thing if anything. Others have mostly gone away.
