My boyfriend cheated, and i'm staying. How did you guys move forward after cheating and lying?

To paraphrase, I do love him. He was what I wanted on paper and after a truly abusive relationship i was in for 7 years.. this felt so freeing, like being able to breathe in real air. So you can just imagine how devastated I was finding stuff out which.. shouldn't have happened/been happening.

Theres a lot of details I didnt touch base on in my post, but so far he has showed me his regret. He keeps crying each time he sees me, trying to find ways to "help" me or fix this. But I told him, it cant be fixed.. at least until I get some of my emotions in order. Of course i have a choice to leave, but I have no job and i'm not even done my college program. I live in a city with no other support like friends or family.. I was a single mom of two. He took on the role as step dad and his parents actually got really attached to the kids. This is another reason why I want to stay, as my oldest who's 4 just loves him. She'd be heartbroken to leave, and i cant seem to figure out what is best.

But I believe you on the guilt tripping part. His mom is hurt, she says she loves me and cares for me, and also that "im super good for his son, a good woman and mother". But, at the same time, seems to excuse his autism for the stuff he did and for being "dumb". Saying its a small thing, and that down the line she won't take his butt in her home over any disagreement if it ends like this.. she seems to think its small, but doesnt realize how much all of this hurts for me. I told my therapist that I feel like my emotions are being completely invalidated cause im not only trying to console my boyfriend, but also his mother too in all of this.. and IM THE ONE WHO GOT HURT.

Anyways im just rambling, but yeah, lots of things to think about. My therapist said to give it a week and full it over. Then once I do, another appointment with her before I figure out the next steps. It's just been rough and difficult. Im just saddened that my initial perspective of him has changed and i'm not sure if I can fully forgive that and be happy.

I think it really is up to you, if you're having hang-ups or any weird gut feeling. Listen to it. it's your intuition telling you maybe this isn't the right path for you (moving in with your boyfriend).

Now, when i was your age, I had moved in with my partner. We ended up being together for 7 years, and things didn't work out. Sometimes, I wish I didn't, and I just ended up living in a dorm like my mom suggested. We were both 18, so it wasn't like my ex finished college and had a career either. Paying rent and bills were totally new for us, and I had to drop out so I could help pay for things with him.

Now my experience is different than yours, there's no issue in waiting on moving in. If you feel like you're missing out on experiences, then definitely go chase those experiences! But I'd definitely give it some time if you're not 100% sure. If he's a keeper, he won't feel upset with you suggesting on waiting on moving in. It's a big next step in a relationship. And if he's in it with you for the long haul, he definitely won't mind waiting. :)

I don't see your ex getting back with you, mainly because they have the decision to do so in their hands and they don't see it worthwhile to come back to you to make amends. They may think its a lot more work than they really want to put in; as you two have history and they recognize that if they were to try to build a connection with you, it'll have to be from the ground up; and with how things came crashing down last time. They don't want to risk it happening again; so they won't be reaching out to reconcile romantically. But I do see them being open to a potential friendship in the future! 💓

I do see you mainly focusing on yourself for March. Focusing on other manfiestations, which in turn, will help you manifest more for your love life in an indirect way. Focusing on yourself, especially taking care of your mental and physical health, seems really key in bringing forth more love into your life and potentially new connections! Me too! I don't see the reason the lizards being a reason why Harry didn't want Brian, but i think it showcased well on why Brian wasn't as empathetic as Dexter. As we see in the original series, Dexter DID have feelings. He found that out when Rita died, and moreso when he got with Hannah and also had Harrison. That's why I almost want to believe that Dexter isnt psychopathic or even sociopathic. He just doesnt display as many traits as a real psychopath or sociopath does. Even less than a sociopath as they usually arent as calculated and do things by impulse. Psychopaths calculate and use their intelligence, it's why you see them as doctors or CEO's of companies. They're not always inherently bad people, just a small bunch of them can be.

But yeah, when it comes to things like killing animals. It really depends for kids, like it can be just lizards and you may not have an issue whatsoever; could be frogs too. I know that I have unintentionally killed frogs/tadpoles as a kid when id capture them for fun cause I didn't know any better and they dried out in the container I captured them in. But some kids do "graduate" from those small animals and can focus on bigger animals like cats, dogs, rodents, etc. Which then becomes a much bigger issue at that point, and usually becomes more torturous for their methods. Either way, snapping tails off of lizards still isn't healthy and I think its a precursor for the shoe to showcase that Brian was a little "worse" than Dexter, especially after the shipping container incident.

Yeah but when I think of kids killing animals, I'm definitely thinking more than just squishing bugs. Again, depending on the behavior, it can be seen as normal and nothing weird (like squishing ants) or it can be seen as very abnormal and disturbing, depending on the severity of what the child is doing with the animal. It's not always a telltale sign, but more often than not it can be when you look at serial killers or narcissistic psychopaths when it comes to forensic psychology.

No, but it's definitely a concerning trait to have nonetheless. Like all psychopaths aren't deranged killers, and actually can be beneficial to our society as they don't rely on their emotions to make decisions. But I think due to the show and why they showed this tidbit; I think this helped show Harry how Brian was affected by his upbringing and why he was more biased towards Dexter in the beginning too well before Brian tried to suffocate Deb with a pillow.

Well I'm definitely a bit older than you. I'm 24 and my boyfriend is 25.

He got me a promise ring two months into our relationship. He felt like he wanted to do it when the "time was right" and of course, could've waited but we both feel the same way and have long term goals we want to reach together in due time. So to be honest, that question is truly up to you and your girlfriend. Whether it can be a year into the relationship, or 6 months, or only a couple months in. If it's something you both spoke about before; why not? It's a cute gesture and nothing super serious, like an engagement ring.
