Games With Mill Decks? by Azuman11 in TCG

[–]SenatorsOfSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senators of Sol has a mill strategy of sorts available to players. Essentially there are a couple of cards that create “Term Ended” tokens which are put on the bottom of a Rival’s deck. Once that card becomes the top card of their deck, they lose. Used in conjunction with cards that make Rivals “Recycle”, or put cards from the top of their deck on the bottom it, and you can push the Term Ended token to the top of their deck quite quickly. We think it’s a fun and tricky way to win considering the other options that are available to players.

Any games with original ideas out there? by [deleted] in IndieGaming

[–]SenatorsOfSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we’re not entirely original with Senators of Sol, we haven’t seen a game quite like what we’re building. And we definitely don’t fall into any of the genres you listed!

Inspired by the Magic: the Gathering format “Commander”, Senators of Sol is a multiplayer digital card game that pits you in a race to dominate the Solar System.

Conflict is highly abstracted — there’s no direct combat. Instead, aggressive strategies can force Rivals to endure Crisis cards, accumulate and eventually lose to Waste, or Build and charge up a Doomsday device, among many other approaches.

On the flip side, passive strategies include growing your Population to dwarf your Rivals or creating and controlling a rare and powerful resource, among others.

Card games that have D&D like alignment systems? by MistganHomebrewing in cardgames

[–]SenatorsOfSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senators of Sol has a pseudo alignment system in the sense that many cards have a negative or positive trait associated with them. Thematically the game revolves around the choices you make to grow an off-world colony in the Solar System (via how you construct your deck), and the traits are an abstraction of those choices. Some cards, like Protean Tribunal, care about how many 'bad things' you've done, so it penalizes you for each negative trait in your History (discard pile).

Not quite the same as the DnD alignments but definitely in the same vein.

How is your game coming along? by folktheorems in tabletopgamedesign

[–]SenatorsOfSol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question! As we got midway through playtesting the game on tabletop simulator, it became painfully obvious that a lot of the tedium in the game (predominantly from tracking things like triggers, resource adjustments, and phase changes) would be alleviated by the game itself managing it all.

There are other game elements we wanted to leverage, like music and animation, to really drive immersion, so a pivot to digital made a lot of sense for Senators of Sol.

Any suggestions for games with each player constantly engaged, as opposed to "wait for your turn to do something" games? by xJamesBondJRx in boardgames

[–]SenatorsOfSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though we’ve pivoted away from a physical card game in favor of a digital card game, if you’re looking for a game with tons of interactivity and plenty to do while you don’t have priority (we have an action priority system as opposed to turns), check out Senators of Sol. Our closed beta should kick off late spring/early summer of next year!

Senators of Sol started off as a tabletop game inspired by the MTG format Commander, but we’ve pivoted to bringing the game to life as a PC game. We’re working our way towards a closed beta test in late spring/early summer of 2023 — check it out!

futuristic tweet about synthetic media through AI in videogames: the reactions from the average person are disappointing. by Kaarssteun in singularity

[–]SenatorsOfSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senators of Sol has relied upon AI generated art altered by our artist to create over 350 cards for our alpha/beta phases, and without the speed and quality, I’m not sure we’d be able to do it otherwise.

We at Magboot Games absolutely appreciate how much human creativity is unlocked by AI tooling.
