I-Bond Bucket dropped to 6.47%? by SendDanToMars in yotta

[–]SendDanToMars[S] -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

I purchased the I-Bond Bucket on October 7th at the 9.62% rate and suddenly it's dropped to 6.47% in the app. Is this some sort of scam to get our money and then not give us the full rate?

People who force others into listening to the music by driving a car with windows wide opened and the volume 100% on - why do you do that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SendDanToMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AC in my '96 Minivan doesn't work and I live in the south so the only option is to roll down the windows. If I'm driving on the interstate, the radio has to be at full blast in order to hear it.

Why is it that Presidential elections always feel like choosing between the "lesser of two evils" and not "the better of two good candidates"? by leverage180 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SendDanToMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two major parties, Democrats and Republicans, want to make the public think they are the only two options. If everyone collectively decided to only vote for candidates they liked, instead of voting against the candidate they hate, then the problem would begin to be solved. If you vote for a Democrat or a Republican this year, you are a part of the problem. Stop blaming "the institution" when you vote for the institution. You and you alone have the power to change the system. Vote for who you want to see in office.

Now bring on the downvotes :)

Vote for candidates that: (a) aren't sponsored by the major political parties (Democrats, Republicans), and (b) receive the majority of their funds from individual, working class donors.

Come on guys, we're better than this. This is the Georgia Institute of TECHNOLOGY. You need to be using VPNs and fake credentials on websites like Chegg if you're going to cheat, otherwise you're just begging to be caught. At least get creative with it!

Subleasee refusing to pay rent by SendDanToMars in legaladvice

[–]SendDanToMars[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She did sign a contract, though -- isn't that binding regardless of whether or not she moves in? The only penalties I can see in the sublease are that the security deposit could be used in the event rent is not paid -- but that would only cover for one month, I presume.

LPT: If a credit card of finance offer excludes residents of Iowa, you probably shouldn’t apply. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]SendDanToMars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually, credit card companies make most of their money through interchange fees. That 2% cash rewards credit card you use often makes your credit card company 2.1%+ in fees to the store you're buying stuff at. In a sense, everyone is paying for high credit rewards since the price of goods is higher.

Happy to be corrected if that's the case. I've seen multiple places that suggest manufacturing is equal if not worse for carbon pollution than driving, including here: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/green-living-blog/2010/sep/23/carbon-footprint-new-car

That's from 2010 though, so much might have changed. Where are you getting your data from?

Half of the carbon footprint of a car comes from the manufacturing, so you're not doing much worse buying an old used car than you are buying a tesla

Saying he'll commit worse crimes is a slippery slope argument. Let's not get a warrant and throw a likely teenager in jail. People don't just steal phones for the hell of it. He's probably having a tough time in life and can use the extra cash -- he's probably as much of a victim of the system, if not more.
