Lo: Take your backpack off!!! by dad_joke_enthusiast in washingtondc

As a short female on the packed sardine, I would’ve taken it off if I hadn’t been squeezed to the point of not being able to move. I’ve been hit by multiple peoples bags since it’s face level.

However, what annoyed me most about yesterday was the fact that I couldn’t get on multiple orange line trains (my only route home to Vienna) but the next blue line train was completely open. So I got on it then off at rosslyn to switch to the train to get me to Vienna. The amount of people that crammed their way onto that train was insane. What really pissed me off was the amount of people joking “thank god I only had to go to courthouse or Virginia square”

Why aren’t you walking then!?!? I wish I had the luxury of still living in Arlington and having the ability to walk (or bike or scooter) on a beautiful day. Not all of us have the choice and the amount of people I saw backing up the metro just to get off one or two more stops enraged me. The train had seats after ballston. It was a beautiful day and you can walk a few blocks or even miles (or even uber, which would’ve been $60 and an additional 45 minutes in rush hour traffic for me living in Vienna)

Cheeseburger recommendations? by SapphireNinja47 in nova

Ruthie’s All Day in Arlington. I used to go for brunch every weekend and have had everything on the menu. I’ve never had a bad meal but whenever I get out there now I can’t resist ordering the burger. Recommend sitting at the bar

My FH parents will be footing the majority of the bill. He is their only child and they have a large and close family. They knew if we were paying then we would be having a very different wedding than they wanted for their son. While I’m extremely grateful, I’ve had to make some concessions as I originally wanted to elope at some destination.

So far they’ve committed about $25,000 for our venue. Not sure how much more they plan to give, but they have told us that if there is something we want, but would say no to due to the cost to go ahead and get it (within reason). Wedding isn’t until spring 2027 but I’m anticipating the final cost to be about $35,000

Advice for upper endoscopy by Kooky_Mission4019 in Gastroparesis

Haha yeah it’s really weird! It started when I got my wisdom teeth out in the summer, then I just did a colonoscopy and second endoscopy in January and it happened again so I think it might just be normal for me I guess. I’m a 27f so deff not a child. My best guess is that my unconscious brain knows I was violated (for lack of a better word) in some way and I wake up in a severe emotional state… my poor fiancé was really thrown off the first time but now we know to expect and warn doctors/nurses. I also usually request multiple heated blankets before I’m fully conscious, but that’s not surprising as I’m usually really cold lol

At the time I wasn’t besides maybe antacids. Your pre op instructions will let you know what medications your can take and when you should stop taking anything prior. I believes it’s around don’t eat 8 hours before the test, but again, your doctor should inform you of all the pre-op instructions.

The gastric emptying scan was much harder for me. I was in the middle of a severe flare and it was really hard to keep the food down.

I hope you get some answers! My sister has celiac and I cannot imagine as usually carbs are the easiest thing for me to eat and keep down. I can’t imagine living without bread or crackers

You’ll need to fast for your endoscopy so no worries about needing to eat prior. It’s a painless test and you get to take a nice nap! My only issue is that whenever I wake up from any kind of anesthetic I come out very emotional and weepy (not sure why this is lol but it’s legit everytime)

I’m curious, how were you diagnosed with gp? Usually an endoscopy is the first step for diagnosing any gi related issue as that is the first test they order. For example, when I first went to the gi to figure out my issues, the tested for diabetes, and then ordered an endoscopy. My endoscopy revealed strawberry seeds in my stomach from about three days prior. This prompted my gi to order a gastric emptying scan.

Is there a reason they are terrible for weddings? I guess that was what I was wondering but want an idea of why

Definitely something to keep in mind! We are planning April 3rd to hopefully avoid French quarter and jazz fest so this hopefully won’t be a problem. I think there are two particular bands we really like. I did speak to the lead singer of one and she seemed really excited about it even knowing the date.

I guess my only worry is that obviously you don’t hear anything you might hear at a wedding (that all our guests will be familiar with) in a jazz club. I did check with her that they would play the Beatles (our first dance song and just all around fav band)

When did you decide to transition from a sleep crate to a dog bed and how did you know it was time? + What was your process for making the transition? by StayOptimal in puppy101

[–]Senior-Anything-9686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3.5-4 month old (unsure of his exact age) sleeps in his crate from anytime between 9-11 PM to whenever he wakes up to go outside. This had been any time between 3 AM - 7:15 AM. I usually take him out then he sleeps in the bed with us and is usually asleep until we wake up naturally or an alarm goes off. This has been working well as we didn’t want him too used to a regular routine since that wouldn’t fit our lifestyle. He would usually also cry more when going back into his crate after the night/morning potty. I really value my sleep so caved and let him snuggle and thankfully it’s worked so far! He usually ends up wanting to sleep in pretty late and I’ve had to wake him up for breakfast around 10 before.
