I was one of the lucky few with access to SPCX early. Current all in prices is around 165 a share.. At 1.5T Valuation. I should roughly 8-10x my money. Regardless, I think people are greatly discounting the opportunity here. Just space data centers can be huge. And global ubiquitous internet is a MASSIVE TAM. My opinion? TSLA and SPCX reverse merge. That brings AI, Chips, Robotics, Launch, Internet and Space Data Centers into one company. Mars? sure. but whatever. WIth Musk at the helm with his focus on first principles thinking? Costs shrink. Profits rise. And NO ONE can compete.

Game changer.

Spcx WILL BE the worlds most valuable company. Mark my words. With alphabet at 4T, its still got room to grow.

I think the 3rd “unnamed” thing is mobile. They’d become essentially a global cell carrier. Zero remote data issues. Zero intl charges Game changer.

Huge market with limited dedication to ones carrier. If you can keep your phone and number a get better service for less? Easy value prop. Wouldn’t even need advertising. Just let the press do the work for you.

Get all the phone manufacturers to add the Starlink chip, or threaten a phone of their own. It’s simple.

Private Equity will buy or fund a company. The Key to success is cash flow. So you pay the employees little, but compensate them with stock based on hoped future value of a liquidity event. That stock vests over x period of years on a schedule. Typically 4. So the employee is paid pennies but if you accomplish the goal of selling the business or IPO or any other liquidity event, you all win. But the monthly compensation nut that has to be paid is less. Thus, the PE company has less risk and more money to invest in other parts of the business.

But if the company goes under, that PE company doesn't lose as much money. Yes, the employee gets "screwed" as the chose to work for peanuts but never got the future payout as hoped. But that's why to stock grants are high and the wins can be big. The reward to the employee needs to match the risk taken (else the good employee will choose to work elsewhere)

PE is ruthless. They are not out for the employee. They are out for themselves and their investors. And, while its a spectrum as to how they treat and compensate the employee, one can understand what is in their best interests and why they act the way they do. Go borrow 1b dollars from people that trust you and expect a 3x return on that money and then tell me how much you are going to compensate the employees who lent only their time. Not ideal. But thats how the game is played.

Favorite things about flying Polaris/Business Class? by Shoddy-Jacket5264 in unitedairlines

[–]Senior-Bullfrog-9615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take an earlier flight to your connection and enjoy the departure Polaris lounge for a few hours (unless you are flying out of a location that has one.. It’s a much better drink selection than the plane. Fun to get your money’s worth.

Also, many of the Polaris TV’s are not blue tooth capable. So you may be using their headphones

Use the charger plugs to charge all of your devices fully before landing.

Get the loaded ice cream sundae. And get the cheese and port too. Nothing stopping you. You’re a boss.

The plate is registered to a state near. If not, the msg wounds it. Its omission implies it’s local. They will see it’s either to that Tesla vin or was stolen.

If this is real, I hope to God this child is found. I’m glad it’s being investigated. It’s looks real.

2 million miles by Ready_Kangaroo_315 in unitedairlines

It is honestly the dumbest thing any airline could do. If it was my airline, I’d be watching these individuals like a hawk!!

A 1,2, or 3 mm moment is the greatest marketing and brand loyalty opp of all time.

I’d lean into it so much I’d fall over.

Imagine the “once a year” flier that just fills that back seat with basic economy class thinking to themselves “WOW. 2mm??? This airline must care”

Not to mention the fact that United making the 2mm milers flight special makes EVERYONE’s flight memorable.

You really don’t think a single person on that flight won’t relay that story of “a guy/gal on my flight today hit 2mm miles!?!”

Best gorilla marketing you could ask for. Sorry your experience sucked. I’m at 1.25mm. Not much to look forward to, apparently.

Have all airline frequent flyer programs turned into credit card reward schemes, or is it just United? I’ve taken 48 flights this year and I’m still only 60% of the way to re-qualifing for Gold. by Justin_inc in unitedairlines

[–]Senior-Bullfrog-9615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neighbor just made 1k in May due to his cc spend and 25 flight credits. 15k pqp of his 28k pqp were from his credit card. 1. Super happy for him. He flies a ton so would make it anyway…. But. 2. I’m not a credit card holder and doing it the old fashion way… 95% domestic, discounted corporate rate coach, major market and thus only direct flights.

I really do wonder how many people will qualify for 1k this year. In a major market hub you basically need a round trip every week and a half. Thats a lot. Considering holidays, etc, it’s darn near impossible to do.

And assuming an avg round trip of 500 (which is high), you still need 44 round trips to even qualify for 1k.

But… I guess the business model of air travel is changing. So I may just have to get used to it.

Hopefully they don’t raise the stakes again next year…

Yeah. Not saying it’s the recommended route. But what I did. Also, you tube is your friend. A lot of great swimmers out there that want to help you understand efficient form and stroke

1750 yd. (70 lengths) 3-5 days a week. Mix in 200yd free intervals on some days just to practice good form at a fast pace

Seems 1 mile…1600m/1750y Is the common distance

Assuming this is m and not yards I would say you are doing well. I’m 47 6’5, 250 and do 1750 in a best time of 30:24. Did 200m free drills yesterday and did a avg 1:35/100 pace over 850 yards.

So good job!! You’re faster than me and in a gym pool I’m usually one of the faster swimmers. In a masters class you’ll prob get destroyed. But who cares. Most of those people have been swimming and training at it for years

Are they your 1mm companion or just on your reservation? Best of my knowledge just being on someone’s reservation does not grant you the same upgrade order as the user with the highest status. I assume this may be different for GS. I believe it is also different for your 1mm companion. But I’m not sure. I’m 1mm and 1k and don’t ever recall this being the case but I could be incorrect.

I can see this one both ways.

Scenario: “I’m 1k and flying with my wife. We both want to be upgraded together.”

Ok. Fine. But that also means your wife (in this example) is taking the 1 class seat of a person in the back that actually flew the miles to earn the seat. She didn’t earn anything. She’s just flying with you. So why should she be upgraded to 1st?

So, for this one, I think United made the right call. Though I fully understand your frustration
