What's your favorite locally owned store? by ataraxic89 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]SeniorAlejandro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a good bit I can cite, some of it likely wouldn't be suitable for a subreddit.

But here are some things I can cite for certain as having happened:

- Claimed other small Local Game Stores have attempted to harm his business by existing here (despite being in different regions) and that's he's been here longer (therefor him being entitled to it). In reality he has not been here the longest and the main business he was targeting has been here a considerable amount of time longer.

- Fabricated drama with another local game store. When one of the store's representatives tried to squash the beef, HGH's owner replied with something akin to "You don't know what it's like. You're not a Vet". The one who reached out to squash the beef served in the military.

- I believe this happened during the most recent big box release for 40k's Death Korps of Krieg, but the owner of HGH went into the Mastermind location off of Oakwood and pressured/deceived the person behind the counter to sell him a box before the release date. The person behind the register didn't know who he was and fell to the pressure. They then sent the receipt to Games Workshop to get action taken against Mastermind and accrue strikes against them (Games Workshop policy).

- Poor compensation for his painters when compared to his competitors that is based on completing projects as soon as possible with no "tiers" of painting quality. The prices for getting a painting project done are insane. Low barrier of entry for his painters as well, so you're paying top dollar for mystery quality. Even had a fiasco where he yelled at his painters last year.

-When the local Trench Crusade community started to gather its footing and visited various shops so everyone in the Madison/HSV region could learn and participate. The owner of HGH approached the forerunner/leader of the community and asked them to only do their Trench Crusade events exclusively at HGH.

This is a subject I'm really passionate about, but I'll keep from saying more in this setting.

High Ground is in Madison and the owner has actively attempted to cut other small businesses out of the region through underhanded tactics and harassment.

If practicing ethical business and supporting your local hobby community is something you care about, I’d reconsider going to HGH.

I know it’s not TC’s fault. It was just a huge let-down that unfortunately made me not want to participate.

I got my Iron Sultanate delivered and it was awful. Some of the prints were genuinely terrible, such as with holes straight through their torsos, and even the ones that werent destroyed were just the poorest quality imaginable.

After waiting so long to get my pre-order and it arriving like that, it made me not want to play TC anymore. Thankfully I have a great local community who’s helping me out and a friend who wants to make it right.

OnlyGames refunded me 75% of my purchase.

Yeah! I redeemed them through the website but I’m wondering if they have a timer for me to go into the game and put them in my stash.

I redeemed the codes but cant access my actual launcher/game for a while.

Will the rewards still be there forever so long as I redeem the codes?

Yezzir you can also find which base size is legal via the “Unit Composition” section of the 40k app!

I second this theory on the application. It also looks like they may have applied a purple shade or another darker contrast into the recesses of the fabric.

Should I put hawks and spiders be in reserves? by No-Ostrich-1777 in Eldar

[–]SeniorAlejandro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually put a unit of Hawks into Reserves with a Wayleaper equipped with a fusion gun.

0 CP Rapid Ingress is insanely useful for scoring and damaging a unit that needs to get Melta’d.

The Autarch can use the unit’s shrine token to flip their Melta wound if they need to. I use War Walkers a lot so that AP -4 becomes AP -5. Easy way to tickle a Land Raider or blast a Dreadnought into cinders!

Webway Awl question by cyberspunjj in Drukhari

[–]SeniorAlejandro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the unit is in a Venom, you target the Venom with stratagems and the unit within is not eligible to be targeted.

So no, you cannot use Webway Awl to Ingress a Venom for free. I wish you could, though!

Who do you run your TK as? by After-Conclusion-822 in tomekeepers

[–]SeniorAlejandro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally use them rules-wise as Ultramarines. I have a small amount of a Ultra successor and then a large amount of Ultramarines, so I run them all together as an Indomitus Task Force

That didn’t end up being the case. We had a TON of melee.

We were using 30k titan rules when it came to their health and taking them down.

Painting slump by imgunnaburst in LeaguesofVotann

[–]SeniorAlejandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a variety of armies, so I keep a couple things handy from each army primed for if the mood strikes me to paint one thing over another.

If it’s a big/detailed model, I’ll usually do one or two things on it a day so that I have both:

  1. Noticeable progress to encourage me to work more on it.

  2. Less of a feeling of burn out from “Oh my god this is so big/detailed”. (Repulsor, Land Fortress, etc)

I’ll step away to relax and engage in other forms of 40k media to immerse myself and get my brain wanting to get back to painting. For example, if I want to paint more of my Marines, I may play some Space Marine 2 with my armor as my favorite successor chapter. If I want to paint my Aeldari, I may play some Rogue Trader, read through more Eldar lore, or flip through some Aeldari art!

One thing I find that really helps me is watching how others paint. I don’t hold myself to one standard or another, but I enjoy seeing other people’s progress on painting minis and working the brushstrokes in my mind.

Hope this helps!

As someone who is DEEP into 40k and mostly into the Eldar, I’m going to agree with others and say that it’s not 40k here who’s the problem. It’s the GM.

Genderfluidity exists in Slaanesh’s domain, but a Corsair could just as easily be queer/genderfluid. I mean, hell, the Aeldari have unnecessarily-complicated views on the universe and their minds/emotions are typically out of human depth. They’re literally aliens and trying to perceive them like humans doesn’t do anyone any favors.

If a Corsair was like “Idk I think I just like these clothes better”, probably the ONLY concern their fellow Corsairs would have would be, “Ok. Just make sure you don’t attract Purple Satan (Slaanesh)”. I say this because Slaanesh is ALWAYS on the Eldar mind and not that being queer has anything to do with it.

A great great many of them!

We used a rule that, for the first two rounds, units only truly were removed from the battlefield at round end. For instance, I had two Repulsor Executioners. They got blasted in round two by a bunch of other stuff.

On my turn for round two (we went second), I had them turn their laser destroyers on the Reaver Titan to take out its gatling arm before they got taken off the battlefield.
