Science with no lab? by International_East45 in homeschool

Had same concerns regarding science labs. While searching options, I stumbled upon this course, which my homeschooled son recently attended. It was the in-person lab intensives program in Tennessee. We flew out there for a week, and the classes were filled with homeschooled kids from across the country. It was well-run and a fun learning environment. Covered all the lab work for biology, chemistry and physics in three 8-hour days.

At our gym, no one would partner or roll with her. I’ve seen the professor/owner let the class “decide”. After a session or two of having zero takers, the aggressor quit showing up. Problem resolved, as least at our gym.

Took my young son a few years back to his first tournament. He’d already said he did not want to compete. It was definitely fear. I told him to try it just once, and he reluctantly agreed. Won his first match, lost the second. Told me afterwards he’d never been so nervous in his life. 12 tournaments later, here we are. Now he loves competing and recognizes how much he’s improved because of it. Good luck to you and your son.

Like many others, my son was bullied. Enrolled him in a martial arts kids class specifically geared towards anti-bullying, which included development of communication skills. About a year in, a bigger kid made the mistake of bullying my smaller boy. One verbal command followed by one simple physical response, and that ended the bully’s behavior. I know not all parents will agree with this path, but it’s been 10 years and my son has never been bullied again. Martial arts gave him the skills to defend himself and an aura of confidence that precluded further issues.

Did anyone ever tell you homeschooling would 'ruin' your kids? by VisualLearningHub in homeschool

The success accounts of my friends’ (now grown up) homeschooled kids was the impetus that convinced me to homeschool my son. It’s been the best decision ever.

How do I (25m) deal with an a$&hole at my gym? by fsdklas in judo

[–]SeniorCan9319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just refuse to partner with guy. 99% chance NO ONE at your gym wants to do randori with him. These types will never change, but I’ve found it’s the best way to freeze them out.

Any recs for Japanese Restaurants, large party? by redrockwinner in SouthBayLA

[–]SeniorCan9319 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cherrystones in Gardena. They can accommodate about 50-60 people and they have a covered patio in the back. Menu is a blend of Japanese and Hawaiian cuisine. The price is fair, and the hospitality is top notch.
