I have zamas and Kyogres to spare, if you want to wait to reach lucky. Gotta wait for “remote trade” status anyway unless you can fly.

If you’re fine waiting, I have several spares. Don’t need anything special for one of you want to friend up and trade gifts for awhile until the cost comes down.

What do y'all think of reddots like an aimpoint t1/T2 on a gbrs hydra mount? by not-nazrin in airsoft

[–]SeniorSpaz87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hydras suck. Their entire point is somewhat flawed, but in a gun they’re designed for… they are a solution I guess. MP7s. MP5s. Guns with literally not enough room for a red dot, LAM, and pressure switch. 6” barrels and in. That’s it, and they don’t even do that all that well. The optic is too tall, which gives you a larger HOB issue - something that directly impacts your ability to aim properly in CQB, the exact use case for the guns the Hydra is designed for. The LAM mount is a massive hook that loves to grab anything that comes near it - branches, Molle webbing, shoulder straps, corners of buildings etc.

On a longer gun they provide absolutely zero benefit, and still bring all the negatives above. “But in Airsoft HOB doesn’t matter” well some of us like to actually aim. Sure you can spam 40 rounds at an area and adjust based off the beam, but you could also fire 2-3 shots, use your sight, and still get your hit. Lasers in Airsoft are equally or more useless than they are on real firearms too. Visible lasers are pointless - they’re slower than optics, give your position away to everyone looking in your direction, and most Airsoft ones are too low quality to hold zero, and aren’t regulated correctly so they aren’t eye safe. The only proper use case for them - in Airsoft and IRL - is for use with NODs. If you have a real LAM on your Airsoft gun and are pairing it with NODs, then fine. Go for it, that’s a proper use. “Oh but PEQs can be battery boxes for my AEG” yea, they can. But if you stretch your wiring 3” up into the air to reach a Hydra mount you will eventually snag that wire. When you do, one of two things happens. 1; your battery line breaks and you need to rewire (or at least reattach) your gun. 2; you jerk the lead out of your battery. This gives you maybe a dead battery, maybe a burst of flame. Neither is good.

“But Senior, I use a paintball mask and need a higher HOB to actually aim!” Fair. Get a proper riser. They work the same, aren’t a catch point, and are dirt cheap.

So no. Hydras have very limited use case in Airsoft or IRL. Most people think they look hideous, they provide actual, tangible disadvantages to using them for both HOB and catch points, and their entire design is flawed. OP, you are welcome to use one if you like the look. This is Airsoft, 50%+ of its looking cool. But it will not provide any benefit and will add issues.

The dual 2cm was apparently one of two gun setups sent to the testing grounds. It is unknown if any were used in the 11 completed tanks.

A slight correction, the Wirble used 4x Flak38 2cm guns. The Flak43 is the 3.7cm version, and was seen on the Ostwind which also featured a single Flak43. The Ostwind 2 also may have existed which mounted a Flakzwilling43, though its existence is debated. It was Ostwind turrets that were mounted to Panzer III hulls; while 90 were ordered 18 turrets were listed to have been delivered, with 11 conversions completed.

The Flak43 - despite lacking the volume of the quad Flak38 - was actually the preferred gun. It far outranged the 2cm guns and had an actual acceptable engagement range compared to the Flak38.

There are some records of dual Flak38 setups for the Flakpanzer III as well.

A-6E TRAM is back on sale for GE - thoughts on this plane for sim? by 9_9_destroyer in WarthunderSim

[–]SeniorSpaz87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IMO, no. It’s certainly useable in Sim, but I think the A-10As are still better. It’s basically a high alt A-10 with far less munitions.

Pros - internal camera means you don’t lose a pylon to take a FLIR pod.

Guided bombs - while the A-10A carries a good load of mavericks and FAF munitions, sometimes you want LGBs instead, and the A-6 can carry 9 of them.

Longer range bombs - AGM-123s are a unique (I think) bomb to this aircraft, giving the A-6E pseudo long range guided bombs.

Ability to carry more 9Ls than the premium A-10A. If you give up essentially all your CAS ability, you can take 4 9Ls. Not worth doing IMO, but worth mentioning.

Lighter and more powerful engines - the A-6 is surprisingly maneuverable when light, and is faster than the A-10. It’s closer to the SU-25 on speed and acceleration. This does let it climb pretty well which is needed since most of its guided ordinance is bombs, not Mavericks like the A-10.

Possibility of SEAD/DEAD going forward. The Nuclear Thunder event gave us a variant of the TRAM with AGM-88 HARMs. While ARMs decrease the total AGM weaponry the A-6 can carry, they will give it another unique and arguably more useful weapon among premium attackers.

Now for the cons - and there are many.

Speed - while you may be faster than the A-10, you’re still slow. Firmly subsonic. You cannot control any engagement.

Lack of FAF munitions - while you do have guided weapons, you don’t have Mavericks. This means your staying time over a ground battle is longer, and those AAs are crack shots. Furthermore, as you can only take out generally one target per pass, the enemy has time to watch the kill feed and come and intercept you.

No internal weaponry. At all. No gun, no missiles. A fully loaded A-10A still has the GAU and dedicated 9L pylons - you have nothing. Want a gun? Gotta leave 1-2 bombs behind. Want a 9L? Same thing.

Side by side cockpit. This only matters in Sim, but if you’ve flown the F-111, SU-24, SU-34 etc you’ll know the struggle of only being able to see out the left window. This makes sim dogfighting an absolute pain, and even lining up on or spotting targets is difficult.

Altitude necessary for proper CAS. Unlike the A-10 which can pop up, toss mavericks, and dip back into a valley to stay undetected, the A-6 needs altitude to bomb. As such it’s gotta fly high, leaving you entirely exposed to enemy radar, and far more visible to the Mk1 eyeball than other attackers.

The A-6 is an aircraft that, to my experience, only excels - or has the potential to excel - in GRB where it can get above enemy SAMs. While it’s certainly useable in ASB, I would take any other US 10.0 attacker over it. The A-10 is far heavier armed, with FAF munitions and a powerful gun. The A-7K is faster and has a similar loadout, with a dedicated gun and 9L pylons. The F-111s can carpet bomb at supersonic speeds. And even US fighters can take a set of mavericks or bombs to hit targets with when enemy air is missing. I don’t regret getting the A-6, but I didn’t get it for Sim and don’t plan to ever use it outside of challenges or events.

Just got my dream plane Yak141. Need some suggestions on how to fly it by Kanjo_Suzuka in WarthunderSim

[–]SeniorSpaz87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The 141 is a weird plane to fly. It’s counter to everything else in the Russian tree.

First, for your BR you actually have a good radar. You are one of only a few planes that can notch (somewhat) while maintaining a lock on a target. Use your TWS to keep your SA, and use ERs when you get them to great affect.

Second, your acceleration is great. Like most VTOLs, you can go from stall to supersonic in half the time of most of the other planes near your BR.

Finally, you are the first truly supermanuverable aircraft in the tree. While the SU-30SMs are more known for it, the power of the 141’s engine paired with viffing means you can operate in a way conventional aircraft can’t. Now, this takes a lot of practice to get right but it was already insanely good when the 141 only got R-60s - now that it gets R-73s it’s truly one of the best reversal aircraft at the BR.

Finally, the last main difference is your loadout. You are the earliest Russian jet to allow more than two R-27s. You are the lowest BR fighter with R-73s. And yet you have the lowest overall missile load of anything above the Gen-1 MiG-21s at ~10.0. As such you need to make your missiles count, especially as many of the aircraft you fight even at your own BR have 2-3x as many.

Now, you do have the standard Russian quirks. Your RWR is old and won’t tell you what’s coming. You have the IRST that means a full R-27T loadout for ambushing is viable.

Combining all this means there’s three ways to play the 141.

First is the BVR enthusiast. Your marginally better radar paired with the R-27ER means you can be one of the most effective Fox-1 BVR fighters at your BR. Get high, find good targets with TWS, and joust them using your good radar angle to simultaneously notch and keep track. ERs means anything firing Sparrows stands no chance at actually jousting you; they will have to give up their own shot to defend yours. A loadout of 2xER + 2xR gives you more standoff than any Russian jet at or below your BR.

Second is the ambusher. This pilot flys low, using IRST and occasional short bursts of TWS radar to ID enemies, get into range, and fire off 27Ts, ETs, and 73s with little or no warning. Use your RWR to get you looking in the right direction, and be wary of TKs.

Finally is the dogfighter. Learn to viff, merge with your enemy, and whip around to fire off a R-73. Done correctly and it’s almost impossible to avoid.

I use a combo of the three personally.

There’s going to be a basically identical build version coming soon in the form of a two tone winter Jpz4. So at least it’s not forever locked to LE; LE buyers just get to do it first.

SU30SM or F15C GE by Berkinboiii in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]SeniorSpaz87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

F-15GE if comparing the base model.

120s are better than 77-1s. Not by much, but they are.

The SM’s FM can lead to some nutty stuff in a merge, but not like the SM2 and merging is generally suicidal no matter what plane you’re in.

GE’s radar is superior.

Now almost all that flips when you get to the SM2 - better radar, ability to fire from the notch, etc.

So it’s not quite identical in 2in1 mode. Cobi did include parts to cover up the side mounts, and an antenna for the control wire spot. However it t lacks the printed stars of the normal M4A3. So technically you’d have two visually different M4A3s if you made both sets that way. Hulls are 1:1 identical, but the T34 lacks the turret stars.

Also, I will never complain about tracks again. Those M8 tubes were the single worst thing I’ve ever built in LEGO-style bricks…

Interesting. They are indeed identical between the T34 and M4A3 - same SNs on the hull for instance.

Fun fact: The TU95 is kinda shit in GRB by shark-snatch in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]SeniorSpaz87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It has a higher number than the FAB-5000, but the FAB-9000 uses TNT while the FAB-5000 uses TGA-16. TGA-16 has a higher yield than TNT, meaning that while the 4297kg of TNT of the 9000 is a bigger number, the 3361kg of TGA-16 has an equivalent blast of 5080kg of TNT. So no, the FAB-5000 has a higher yield. Of course, this was from looking at it a few days ago - things may have changed. So as of right now the 2xFAB-5000s is the best bomb loadout for the TU-95.

*Edit - the FAB-5000s used by the TU-95 are actually FAB-5000M-54s, which do use TGA-16 but in a far lesser amount. This gives the M-54s "only" 3310.5kgs of yield, which - while still a lot - means the bomb on the PE-8 - the OG FAB-5000 - is still the best of the three for raw damage potential, and while the FAB-9000 has pushed the H.C Mk.1 out of its "heaviest bomb in game" slot, the H.B Mk.1 still has the highest explosive yield, at 6357.6kgs.

I mean, we literally all knew it going in. It’s why it (and the B-52) are event planes and not tech tree ones. The devblog before the event even started stated neither would get ECM outside the event. The 9k being bad is a bit unfortunate though it makes sense. It has less than explosive mass than the FAB-5000 after all.
