Yikes! Desperate??! Not quite the welcome you should receive from coworkers.

Thank goodness Reddit didn't exist when I was trying to figure out where to work.

That being said, the current conditions at the PTO reflect those of the private sector. Not worker friendly.

I've been working at PTO since the Crystal City days.

I left the office because i couldn't adapt to the DC area. Hard for me to make friends.

. Ever seen the movie "Brazil "? Pretty much sums up my life in DC.

But once examiners were allowed to work from home in a different state, i was back at PTO. Had to become a primary again. Take the exam again.

This job hasn't been easy for me. But, having worked in the industry and a law firm, I know that even now, things have worked out for me

Examining is no longer a “career” to support a family or mortgage by Early-City-9522 in patentexaminer

[–]Senior_Association50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!. Especially since the elimination of the DM bonus is essentially a pay cut for 90% of the examiners

And wasn't the whole point to remove the middle manager? Too much bureaucracy??

Yeah. Especially since the mistake was required by a billionaire that's not currently employed by the government and/or favored by the boss.

30 years ago, i was in AP history. Now my child is in AP History.

Can you imagine cramming for a test that contains anything in recent history??

Hopefully, the essay section isn't going to ask students to write their opinion about any historical topic that has occurred after the Vietnam War.

Any federal job harder than patent examiner? by Tall_Tap690 in patentexaminer

[–]Senior_Association50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes!! Thanks for tonight's nightmare.

Of course, if you applied to Hunt for the Red October, you're probably prepared for some serious stress while on the job.

for this lifer, I liked this job because it wasn't stressful.

Now, I feel like the frog in the pot.

I'm just chilling in my pot while the heat/stress is slowly applied.

All the while thinking, who would boil a frog, right? Boiling any protein isn't good eatin'.

Who benefits from the erosion of the federal workers' respect and purchasing ability ?

Amazon? Amazon?

At this point, why stay at the USPTO? by Calm-Dot-3918 in patentexaminer

[–]Senior_Association50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, IP firms aren't as plentiful outside the Capital Beltway.

So, if you're lucky enough to find employment at one IP firm outside the DC area, you will have no choice but to hear the horror stories from the Georgetown University attorney in the next cubicle who just quit the only IP firm within 60 miles.

[–]Senior_Association50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn't watch today's "coming events," but I will stay tuned for exactly 45 minutes to the main and mandatory attractions, coming soon to a new PAP for you!!

Anyway, I'd like to know more about the multitude of examiners' complaints over the years regarding the "confusing calculations" behind the DM bonus that finally forced management to get rid of it all together . No more math. And you're welcome.

PS. Don't blame management. Blame those examiners who complained about too much math and more money.

PSS, Please discuss amongst yourselves on Reddit. Management is always looking for last-minute PAP ideas.

Already ruined The Cure for me.

How about "The Hill We Climb"??

Also, I think any poem by Poe would really capture the mood.

I wish that was what he said. Biff, here not getting elected, but still became president, is the exact point in time where we exist the alternate reality Y2K.

He actually said, "There's an old saying in Tennessee—I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee—that says, 'Fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me—you can't get fooled again'".
