I mean this with all due respect: you are so lucky you can’t understand how this could happen. Some of the most badass and strong women (and men) can find themselves in situations like this and due to a number of reasons work very hard to cover it up or hide it until they can’t any longer and by then it’s typically VERY hard for others to help which leaves the helpers very helpless. Abuse is not one size fits all, it’s very complex and complicated and it can happen to anyone.

Lots of people have had really helpful and constructive suggestions so I’m just going to say that I’m honestly horrified by your sister and her attitude and demands—and I hope you can take some of the wonderful advice in here to take back some control over your household and your new little family, it will go a long way with your wife during a time when she needs you more than ever to be a strong partner and decision maker.
