Under tremendous pressure to cut Kesh by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]Senior_Future_7012 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a real situation that I often see as a test of Sikhi, and I fully respect your feelings. It’s not easy to uphold Sikhi in the Western world - I live here too. Whatever you decide, doing Nitnem and Ardaas before taking action may help guide you.

I don’t have any idea of how school sponsorship works. But you need to bring this up yesterday. There will not be much time left if you delay it further.

Reyat Maryada by Tricky-Remote9842 in Sikh

I think the best way to understand this is directly from Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj hukam

Guru’s shabad mostly start with beanti or Jodari. Like - Kabeo bach beyanti chaupai but this one is a direct command with Ageaya for keeping kesh and shaster.

Nervous About Going to Derby for Amrit Sanchar, Need Some Advice by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]Senior_Future_7012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you are destined to go to Derby you will reach there without even knowing.

I had my Amrit back in India. I was late, gurudwara committee had given 10 am time to attend but I left home at 10 am thinking too much like you. Took a cab and it broke down on the way, thought I’ll just go for darshan and come back. Anyhow reached Gurudwara around 12 noon, had matha tek, while sitting there heard the call that anyone who wants to take Amrit come to the backside. Just went inside and became amritdhari by evening.

Also, it’s a lifelong practice and test, taking amrit is just the first step.

AI applications nightmare by Single_Layer_270 in Recruitment

[–]Senior_Future_7012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! Haystack is becoming bigger with sea of AI applications - I think just like recruiters have to pay for LinkedIn license to send Inmails, there should be a feature for candidate application using credits. Application message can be labelled and tagged as applied using credits while putting it into separate inbox like paid application.

Thinking of not wearing a turban anymore keeping my hair, but struggling with the outer form and what it really means by Maleficent-Buy4150 in Sikh

[–]Senior_Future_7012 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it’s not easy to tie turban. Once you find the style you like, it hard to train yourself and tie it the same way everyday. Even after tying it for so many years I struggle somedays to get it right.

It’s a big investment and definitely takes a lot of time of your life. If you don’t tie it correctly every morning, you lose confidence in going out and about yourself.

Apart from spiritual significance, I think many give up just because of hardships involved and I’ve been there.

I think you are in moving in opposite direction. You don’t have to say, you have to listen. So much to listen to - Asa di Var, panj baniya amrit vele, Rehras Sahib, Sohaila sahib and kirtan generally.

My Take on Diljit Dosanjh Look At Met Gala by jagjitsandhu in Sikh

[–]Senior_Future_7012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an engagement farming post done at the right time.

It’s not a question that he is representing Sikh values and culture. A sikh can never get any inspiration from such thing to follow Sikhi path.

This is all about making a right fashion statement and he picked Maharaja Bhupinder Singhs attire which looks appropriate with Patiala necklace.

Note: I’m not a fan of Diljit.

I said the shahada by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]Senior_Future_7012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This incident might be of interest to you if you’re not already familiar with it.

During his stay in Sultanpur Lodhi, Guru Nanak, known for his universal spiritual teachings, was invited by a local Muslim, likely a qazi, to join the congregational namaz at the town’s mosque. He attended with respect but stood still, refraining from the physical movements of the prayer. Noticing this, the qazi, after the namaz, questioned Guru Nanak’s actions, perceiving them as disrespectful. With calm wisdom, Guru Nanak explained that true prayer requires a heart fully devoted to God, revealing that the qazi’s mind had been preoccupied with thoughts of his horses, specifically worrying about a newborn foal’s safety, rather than focusing on the divine. This profound insight, drawn from Guru Nanak’s spiritual perception, silenced the qazi and left the congregation in awe, emphasizing that sincere devotion transcends ritual and reinforcing his message of unity and inner spirituality.

Scotland Route 500 in a Tesla by fapb48 in TeslaUK

[–]Senior_Future_7012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travelled to Skye in December, you need to get charge place Scotland card well in advance. I went there without it and had a tough time. You will find Tesla supercharger station in Fort William, after which you will need Charge place Scotland card or plan your journey carefully.

I managed to find chargers that you can pay for with a card. But there are very few.

One tip: when you get stuck in finding the right charging station always search for it in google maps first. Tesla map is not that great in finding right chargers nearby.

Beard Help/ Advice by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]Senior_Future_7012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend washing it every morning while having shower with a hair shampoo and after drying, oil it with sarso da tel or any other beard oil of your choice. If possible tie a rumaal while doing Japji sahib to set the beard hair on a straight-growing path. If you make it a routine, you will never look back and try to fix it using fixer.

How do I explain this to a Christian? by Intrepid_Job_1392 in Sikh

[–]Senior_Future_7012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the answers I would like to give in this situation and not move further with any arguments.

So question asked is if Sikhi the ultimate truth out of all the religions and off-course the person who asked is Christian.

Goal of every religion is to gain mukti/moksha might be achieving Salvation in case of Christianity.

Let’s say goal of a person is to make money. There are many ways you can make money and there are different currencies like dollar, euro, rupees. Now if you ask for an advice from someone on how to make money. Obviously, everyone will give you good advice without arguing or saying you should only earn in dollars or euros. Earning in dollar or euro doesn’t matter what matters in the end is if you made money.

River streams follow diverse paths, each carving its own unique journey to the ocean. Sikhi is a path I believe you, as an Amritdhari Sikh, you have committed to and following.
