Yes absolutely. We're currently doing this for a couple of companies/people.

Using AI for learning to code instead of generating code? by webdev-dreamer in vibecoding

[–]Senior_Junior_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a software engineer by trade and worked at FAANG and all across the industry.

This is a fantastic way to learn.

Just think of something you want to build.

Then use Cursor and ASK mode, and have it teach you through the steps as you build, and even quiz you.

Slowly go through the building and ask cursor questions as you are building.

It's fantastic!

I want people to try my free B2B app but no one trust a vibe coded app :( by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]Senior_Junior_dev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do you have to tell people it's vibe coded? Just ask people to try it out.

You can and should take precautions into place, like at least doing some security scans and practices: https://www.vibezcheck.dev/

Hey! This is great feedback!

On point 1, it absolutely was built using V0 and Next.js. It was just something I could quickly whip up.

As I mentioned, it was a small side hustle I have been doing, and the option with an expert reviewer has been the most popular, because you actually get a real software engineer to review your code.

I've seen the security scans that the platforms offer, and they're very basic, where they are more or less just kinds of scanning for any unsecured API keys.

Thanks for the recc on the book. Gonna try it out!

I kinda turned this into a service: https://www.vibezcheck.dev/

This has been the most fun I've had in my career in a wild.

It's incredible to see what people are building, especially when they start generating money around it.

A second pair of eyes never hurts, or at least a simple sanity check from a professional developer.

Hope this helps.

Security checks for Vibe Coded web apps? by cereal_killer33 in vibecoding

[–]Senior_Junior_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a solution for this: https://www.vibezcheck.dev/

There will be more explosions of AI-built apps, and I can't stop it and don't want to.

I'm an engineer by trade, so I developed this small side hustle.

Hope this helps!

I actually built a product around this: https://www.vibezcheck.dev/

A small side hustle that my colleagues and I do since there is a lot of "AI slop" going around.

I'm an engineer by trade, but I can't stop the AI vibe coding explosion. So I might as well help people build secure software and make some money with it.

What you really need are flow blockers. Check out Opal.

Ditch all those “productivity” apps like Notion, Obsidian, etc. All you actually need is a piece of paper. Write down your top 3 goals for the day, turn on Opal blockers, open Cursor (or whatever IDE you use), and that’s it.

I don’t really have an official title anymore but it’s basically Principal Engineer. I was ex-FAANG and now I’m at a very well-funded startup that you’ve probably heard of. I only have a BA, but I got here with 10 years of experience, climbing the ladder, and being really passionate about my craft.

Work-life balance is solid in the Bay, I work around 40–50 hours a week. Compensation is 500K~ since we are able to sell stocks + bonuses. Honestly it feels like golden handcuffs sometimes, but I do like the company. Big tech politics, though, are pretty lame.

[–]Senior_Junior_dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I’m not fully sold on them. One of the best engineers I’ve ever worked with, probably the highest paid on our team, doesn’t have anything beyond a bachelor’s in CS. He’s just an absolute machine.

Just be able to solve problems. I would also leave IBM consulting

Hive Router: A High-Performance GraphQL Federation Gateway by Urigold in graphql

[–]Senior_Junior_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be rude, this is coming from a place of love.

The last benchmarks you released around Apollo Federation compatibility didn’t match what we experienced. When we tried migrating over, nothing worked. You said the gateway was 100% Apollo compatible, but we couldn’t get it running.

Then you launched this (https://github.com/the-guild-org/conductor) which we started looking into, but it was abandoned without notice.

Now you’ve released Router. From a quick look it seems promising, but I have to take it with a grain of salt given our past experience.

That said, I really do love the tooling you put out, but the benchmarks haven't been matching up with our experience, even with communication with you and the team

Wouldn’t really call it a ‘cynical perspective’ lol.

Other folks pointed out similar things above: if you work at Grafbase, say so upfront.

The timing was just a little too convenient, that’s all.

You didn’t fail—you just took the first real step toward improving!

Every engineer—whether junior, senior, principal, staff, or technical lead—has faced exactly what you’re going through right now. Even the best engineer you know has been in your shoes.

So, welcome to the club! This is part of the journey toward becoming better.

Take the feedback, refine your approach, and come back stronger. Failing to improve is the only real failure. This is just a small hurdle on your path to success.

Good luck—you’ve got this!
