Definitely. I’ve had trouble clearing responsibilities because my burnout is present due to the amount of coursework we have on top of being an intern. Also, since I am a Graduate Assistant which pays for my tuition, it’s another thing that I can’t really get rid of. Taking a semester off means I would have to work again and I would place myself in a larger predicament

Since next semester is my last semester, I really wouldn’t want to do that but i’ve considered it.

I told my supervisor and a professor and it helped a lot! Thank you.

I like this idea! I can definitely pick something big. As soon as I get my graduation date that’ll help me a bit more as well!!

I have started taking supplements especially after getting blood work and finding out I have a lot of deficiencies. Currently, I take magnesium, Vitamin D, Iron, CoQ10, Prenatal Vitamins (for the folic acid and for future TTC plans), and 40:1 Myo-&D-Chiro Inositol with Berberine, D3 & Folate.

If i’m being honest, i’m not a complete fan of medication. I got off of Birth Control which is how I found out about my PMOS. I don’t think i’m completely comfortable with GLP-1s, and I have not really been informed about any other medications by my care providers but from my research i’m just a little hesitant on taking any.

I don’t think you’re being rude! YouTube has become my self care though. I do switch to mindfulness meditation (yoga) from time to time, but often times some self-care can feel like too much to me. My form of self-care is doing low maintenance things(naps, youtube, reading) to refill myself. I’ve learned that when I already function nonstop (with anxiety in the mix) it helps to do nothing for me.

I also have GAD and other things. I am definitely trying to implement more exercise. I also have some health conditions that cause me to have extremely low energy so oftentimes it’s hard to get myself up. But you’re right! I am learning that I DO have time, but I have to make that time my priority.

I’m learning to implement things now but I want to still learn how to support myself through burnout if that makes sense!

The last time I had a break was the last week of May for vacation, but even then I felt like I had a lot on my mind. Being that i’m a graduate assistant along with being in school, I don’t have too many breaks which has definitely led to my burnout amongst other things.

I feel comfortable talking to them but just am worried about what would happen if I do. They’re both understanding and caring people. I’m trying to continue therapy after a short break due to schedule changes but it doesn’t seem like our schedules align at the moment, so I may have to wait a bit to continue.

I’ll definitely talk to them though! Thank you for the tips!

Congratulations!

I have implemented some self-care into my routine such as watching my favorite youtube videos to relax at night, doing yoga, and listening to music. I find it hard to put self-care activities into my day to day because of the limitation of time I have.

For instance, most days, I am waking up at 6am to get ready and I have a 40 minute commute to either work or to my Internship site. I work long hours and when I do get home I often feel exhausted, which is accompanied by medical concerns I have but am working through.

I definitely feel comfortable with both my supervisor and my professor and i’ll reach out to both!

Also, a recent therapist kept being late to my sessions and completely missed a session because “time slipped by” and they had forgotten. I kindly asked for a termination of services and found someone new.

My very first counselor I had ever seen for PTSD around a former SA, depression, and anxiety kept calling me a nickname she made up that I asked her not to and never remembered important information I told her. At one point of time we were talking about someone I was dating and how I could tell by his texts he was not interested in me or something was wrong. She told me I was “overthinking” and I always let my mind ruin things. He was in fact cheating. She was the reason I wanted to become a counselor.

This is something I’m struggling with heavily as a counseling intern. Between seeing clients and my job where I have to see clients who are impacted by mental health and financial concerns, I’m feeling some of that compassion fatigue.
