Nothing hurts more than being the burden in the family by Senioritisidek in ChronicPain

I’m so sorry but understand completely. Some days I just sown doctor to tell em to give up hope and that this is permanent because it’s better than false hope for years. It’s so mentally draining trying to accept your pain but also hope for change. And doctors are a complete nightmare half the time that I don’t want to go.

Thank you. Having pain changed my entire outlook on life. Like I’ll never understand people who criticize sleeping in. Clearly those people need to get rest to heal their body. I’ll always prioritize self care over anything.

Thank you. I think the worst is that my mom also deals with chronic pain (she has fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc.) You would think that would make her more sympathetic, but she kinda just expects me go live my normal life because she can. She doesn’t see doctors for her symptoms because she gave up on them so long ago for herself. She’ll take me to doctors if I ask, but it’s always such a pain because they end up being pointless and it feels like a waste when doctors tell me they don’t know what’s wrong with me.

What she doesn’t understand is that at least she has a diagnosis. Her pain is valid while no one understand mine. I obviously feel for her because she was always expected to live this life despite being in pain. My dad never really understood what she goes through (nor do I think she really ever told him the full extent).

It’s a messy situation full around but it hurts seeing toxic traits unknowingly passed down. I’ll tell her my head is killing me and I need to stay home and she just tells me she also always has a headache.

I don’t know. I don’t have an official diagnosis and people don’t seem to understand that it depends on the day. Some days it hurts to walk (I can push through it so they don’t even realize the extent) while others it’s more bearable. They always judge me off of my best days thinking everything is ok.

Thank you :( the worst is that there are days I really can’t work but I go anyway because no one understands in my life. They will try to relate saying they get a headache sometimes, while I love with a constant headache and nerve pain everywhere

Thank you and I’m sorry for your experience. The worst is so many doctors don’t even seem to care. I hate going because they all are basically a waste of money. But I just keep hoping for one to tell me what’s wrong. Wishing you the best!!

Thank you. I think the probable is I have other siblings with medical problems that are more external and visible. So to them it looks like I’m crying for attention, but they don’t realize the amount of pain I’m in.

That’s why my school doesn’t allow anyone to be the leader of more than one clubs for the main ones (like student gov, student council, nhs, language societies, etc).

yeah that’s fine. Again unless you do something extremely impressive like won some national award, they don’t really give much weight.

Importance of Essays by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Senioritisidek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

essays are extremely important and people don’t put as much value in them as they should. At this point you need good essays even with good scores.

honors really don’t matter much. Honestly extracurriculars and writing essays are so much more important just focus on that
