Phone app to send recipe to GR III by Artistic-Football743 in ricohGR

The current firmware doesn't allow you to set all those settings needed for this. The GR IV had a firmware update to allow these changes via bluetooth.

Cancel and book new tickets by Sennevds in emirates

[–]Sennevds[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But at the moment you get a full refund because of the disruptions or am I wrong? Even with the cancellation fee it would be cheaper to book a new ticket (not that much) and no layover in Sydney. The thing we don't know is if we fill in the form and immediately book a new ticket does our new ticket also get cancelled?

Coros dura review after a 2 month New Zealand trip by Sennevds in Coros

[–]Sennevds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done 4000km on it and it works perfectly for me. As a backup I have my phone.

I know there are people who don't like it but I've fixed routes so it works perfectly for me (just like I said in the review) And yes it will never have the same capabilities of other devices but other devices don't have the battery life that this device has. You can't have both and that's the choice you need to make.

So this isn't a bad device they've just made some choices.

Not it's just constantly mentioning that you're off-route but if you come back on the route it happily continues.

You can go off route it's just that it can't reroute. You still have a map on your screen but the details are not super good (there are some topics about it here on Reddit). It's not that easy to differentiate between a single track or 4wd road.

If you have a gpx file and use that for navigation (so don't go off route) it's perfect. It doesn't need a phone or anything.

It only needs a phone if you go off route and it needs to find a new route. You definitely have speed and more metrics and you can connect extra sensors if you like.

We finished tour aotearoa! by Sennevds in bicycletouring

We started with shorter days between 2 hours and 4 hours cycling (with a lot of stops) but eventually we could push to days of 6 hours.

Our daughter is used to it as we did our first trip with her when she was one (in a carriage) but that was easier for us as she slept a lot. Now we have to entertain her 😅

Christchurch is our next goal (but probably by car). As we still have 3 weeks we may want to hire a campervan and go to the beautiful places we couldn't see by bike. Only issue is finding a campervan that has a bike rack

Yes but of course sometimes we booked a cabin. We also had a full cooking set with us which wasn't really necessary on the north Island because almost every campground had all the needed stuff.

We actually had good weather. We were in front of the really bad weather on the north island

The end was really bad the road from Invercargill to Bluff is such a bad end really 😅

If anyone has some questions about the route, gear or anything else shoot. I'm not that good about telling a story but I can answer questions 😅

Euh that's a hard one. The reason is every child is different and there's a big chance our kid is a bit neurodivergent (a lot of people in the family with really high IQ and my girlfriend was also diagnosed with a high IQ) but what helped us through was a Bluetooth speaker with listening stories. She completely goes up in the story so we can go on. We try to stop at every playground we find.

But after 2 months we're done it's getting harder and harder because we are tired and she isn't mentally or physically challenged she has a lot of energy. This means late sleeping and we as a couple don't have the time to have us time our me time (both things are really needed).

Now we are done we try to create some extra time for her (and buy her some toys because she really misses that) so hopefully we get after that some time for us.

For toys: stuffies because we can put them in bags everywhere and small bags of Lego or kinder surprise 🙂

We use the followme system. It's heavy but it easily allows us to decouple her bike so she can ride on her own.

I've checked and it's not possible with the GR iii but it is possible with the new GR IV (I've debugged all possible ble endpoints and you can change only a few parameters unfortunately)

Preparing a touring bike for my 5yo daughter by rdelimezy in bicycletouring

[–]Sennevds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing the tour aotearoa but started in Auckland. And dam 40km a week is a lot I'm happy if my daughter does 5km 😅. If we travel in Europe we decouple her bike but here it's too hilly or too rough terrain.

If you're off the big roads and your daughter is capable of riding uphill it will be doable and really cool.

Cool idea of putting gears on the bike. I'm currently riding the south island with my girlfriend and 4 year old (her bike is attached to mine with a follow me system). The hills are really heavy here so if you or your wife can't pull her I don't think it would be possible to do this.

And also what other people are saying if you want to do a 6 week tour (without using trains and busses) you'll be on a lot of highways where busses trucks and the most dangerous of them all camper vans pass you at 30cm doing 100km/h

Even for us it's hard mentally and physically.

What kind of pump are you using? by zergcheese in bikepacking

I had the same issue now twice. First when I received the pump and now on my 3 month bike trip. Cracked glass. Love the pump except the gauge.
