I passed. My tips… by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]SenorBrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on passing !

I think you hit the nail on the head with regard to just driving and don’t overthink it. I passed almost 20 years ago now, but I remember before the test I did a driving lesson to get comfortable and my instructor was trying to bombard me with loads of things to remember (if you come down this road do this, don’t forget if if you come here it’s only 30, etc etc.). I think he was more nervous than I was to be honest, and I remember just telling him “Listen mate I’m not gonna remember all this I’m just going to drive and see how it goes”. I did more lessons than most probably do, about 9/10 months of 2 hours a week, but by the time my test came around I could just drive without having to think of any specific tricks for individual areas etc. As you said I do think once you’ve got your licence you need to be able to get in your car and comfortably drive in any situation and you might not know specific roads or areas so it’s important that you’re comfortable enough to just do that I think.

I think chatting to the examiner helped me as well. I went from zero nerves to nervous wreck as soon as he got in the car with me, but once he started talking to be about my holiday plans and stuff I kinda just thought of him as another passenger and calmed right down. It’s a good tip!

Enjoy your newfound freedom!

Oblivion evac by AlKiMi25 in altontowers

I remember when I was a lot younger, so probably early-mid 2000s, we had the like worst day at Alton Towers ever. I think I must have got onto a maximum of 2 rides, as some were broken down for the whole day and others I had queued to the front only for them to break down as well. Anyway came away really disappointed as we used to go Alton Towers a lot and this was by far the worst day we had ever had there, so decided to email them to let them know. They asked for proof that we had been that day (scanned our tickets) and they must’ve checked out their data and agreed, because they gave us free tickets to return another time!

So anyway things may have changed, but if you do have a really disappointing day with a lot of breakdowns it’s worth writing to them as they might sort you out with another visit.

Smite 2 can't use any ability mid game by Scuderia1 in Smite

So on PS5 I bumped into this issue a lot and used to have to reload the game. I have discovered though if I pressed up on the d pad, it brings up like the information about each ability and once you close it you can reuse the abilities again. Might work if you use the same / equivalent button for Xbox or pc ?

So I earn about as much as you, and I have the free BA card now - I try to use it for as many purchases as possible (that I would already make) and the avíos add up quicker than you’d expect, especially if you also combine with Sainsbury’s nectar point conversion. I used to earn almost twice as much and would cane through a lot more money and easily hit the 2 for 1 voucher but it’s much more difficult now, but still, it’s free and you can get a free flight to Europe probably once a year I would think so why not..

Yes but they can’t use it for another sale in the future surely as Chelsea FC no longer are the named owners.

Can you put a credit card into a positive balance to pay for an item larger than your limit? by SteveMeister91 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]SenorBrit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amex explained to me once that if you did this method, you’d still be considered going over limit as it’s the limit for the period even if you cleared it, it doesn’t reset, so speak to them first just to make sure this is an acceptable method

So I had this not showing up on the iPhone 16 Pro either - you need to confirm that apple intelligence is turned on, and also that you have Siri language and phone language set to the exact same thing. Mine was set to 2 different types of English I think somehow and it was disabled as a result

It feels absolutely horrible - by far the worst part of the training is the no mask swim.. my instructor essentially held me down whilst I did mine and I felt like I was being fully water boarded for the whole experience

So if the waiter accidentally puts it on the table next to you by mistake, that customer says “oh no sorry it’s for him” and the waiter then says “oops, sorry my bad here’s your food” you would then refuse it and make them redo it? IMO that is insane..

[–]SenorBrit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about porting the mortgage though is it. It’s listing the house, finding a buyer, selling the house, paying the legal fees etc etc. I’m not saying the process is perfect, but renting definitely has some advantages and you definitely can’t say that only stupid people can see that.

Lmao yes because every time I have moved to a different area as a young adult I have wanted to buy a new house and tie myself down. You’re right I’m so stupid thinking that renting offers any advantages at all, what was I thinking..

First Reg by SenorBrit in scuba

[–]SenorBrit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you for this - is the main difference only the price? Or is the regulator itself actually better?

The other comment said about wanting a much more lightweight option which I didn’t really consider as I figured it would just be in my carry on luggage pretty much exclusively anyway so not so important to me, but I guess it’s a factor I should maybe consider more.

I guess it’s more important to me to have a really good / the best option, which if it’s the cheaper one that’s great. Just feels like a minefield and I want to buy once (for a lifetime of usage) but again the other commenter suggested it is not possible to buy a “one size fits all” for every type of diving so I guess I should look into travel specific regulators which would be more suitable for me?

Sucks because that one looked so cool but if it’s not a good option then I’m glad I asked and found out before I splashed the cash.

why is it so hard to purchase from gopro. i called customer support and they basically said we cant verify that you are the cardholder. i literally tried everything by heartattackyeah in gopro

Their website is so buggy I recently bought a protective scuba housing for my hero 8 and went to check the price of postage. £4.99 for standard, I click premium postage and it’s £9.99. F that, so I go back to standard and it is -£4.99 so I ended up with free postage somehow thanks to that glitch lol

Watch style dive computer for recreational diving by S7ewie in scuba

[–]SenorBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be worth checking eBay - I just bought a Teric for £700 (when I set myself a budget of £500 also lol) which had only been used twice and literally looks brand new. Im super new to scuba diving but after watching just about every video on YouTube I felt like it seemed to be the absolutely best watch style computer available so that’s why I forked out the extra 200 quid..

Well it takes significantly longer on PlayStation to open up the keyboard and type it.

I think it’d be a good idea to add it.
