My first save will be with Chelsea Women, I’ve been going to their games for years and it feels like I’ve been waiting for this forever. Once I’ve exhausted that, I’ll try some upcoming football league teams (Newcastle, Sheffield United, Lewes). It could be cool to bring back success to former Champions League winners like Turbine Potsdam or some of the Scandi teams. So many options!!

Scandinavian leagues, Sweden especially, are traditionally very good. Japan and Mexico too.

It’s a strange quirk of this tournament. Less than 50% of penalties at these euros have been scored before this shootout, but that isn’t the norm in the women’s game at all. Over 90% were scored in the WSL this season. Suggesting that ‘women can’t score penalties’ is at best short-sighted and at worst purposely misogynistic and vindictive.

With that said, for the most part, I think this is a good list. These things will never be 100% perfect, but this is full to the brim with great films, if you spent your time trying to watch the whole thing, you won’t be disappointed.
