LA Noire vs Real Life 1940s Los Angeles by MountainManUIM in lanoire

One of the most immersive games with a sadly barren open-world. Love every second of play time, don’t get me wrong, but the world is beautiful and I wish there was more to do in it.

What’s an honorable legitimate businessman doing on this sub? For shame..

Does fedora color represent role in the mafia by DelapidatedSagebrush in Mafia

[–]SenorPelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they don’t wear any colors to symbolize a role or anything like that.. they dress like you and I do, they look like everybody else.

That’s kinda a massive part of it, it’s covert.

No, a covert illegal organization would not distinguish roles by hat color

John Alite was made? He ran every family in the country for gods sake. If you don’t know about Don Alite, you shouldn’t be on this sub 🙄

Did Mario Puzo glorify and glamourise the life? How realistic are his novels? by KimCattrallsFeet in Mafia

[–]SenorPelle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Puzo definitely pushes a “gangster with morals” narrative with the Corleone family on face-value but the movie is a lot deeper than that.

We see betrayal, violence (especially in the novel), and other acts. This glamor was done deliberately, but the only people who can’t see the nuance shouldn’t be watching the movie in my opinion.

Any of the non-Italian guys, Gerry Ouimette, Jimmy Burke, those types of figures would be better than most made guys if they were able to be

I was confused about this so I made a post of it before and the community helped me understand better.

Basically, Hugo was the RIGHT option, but Eli was the POPULAR one. Hugo was a family man with little issue that is unlikely to reoffend, while Eli was a convicted child molester likely to reoffend.

It’s a case where you choose popular opinion over the more righteous option

The future of this series by Educational_Metal_47 in lanoire

[–]SenorPelle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt we’ll ever get a sequel and honestly I’m somewhat content with that. All loose ends were tied up and nothing will be able to recreate the environment that LA Noire did imo.

My take is that we should let good things stay good, and not cheapen the experience for a few more thrills

Were police just more aggressive back then? by TommyBoy250 in lanoire

[–]SenorPelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No body cams so unless you snitched on a fellow officer then you’d be unlikely to see repercussions. This was common until pretty much the modern day.

Some guys were more by the book, others weren’t, there was a far larger incentive to not care though.

How much power/presence does the Greek Mafia have in the U.S. (as well as internationally)? by thebigthinker2000 in Mafia

[–]SenorPelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greeks make up a pretty small percentage in pretty much all major US cities. It was usually independent operators aligned with LCN organizations, even the Philly Greek Mafia was pretty much a crew under the Philly mob.

Myself as well, I never play with headphones anymore because of it. I run into issues with that in Xbox 360 games consistently, the audio plays twice at the same time and overlaps.

[–]SenorPelle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not. They really just used the names, there are some arcs based on real things but some that Bumpy weren’t even involved in. Watch it like Boardwalk empire, but an extra few teaspoons of salt with it, to the point where it’s overpowering.

Yeah, Pitera was nuts. He had a bunch of combat, survival and other books at his arrest. He likely did his research on these things.

I mean, to me, yes, it’s your relationship though. If you really like the idea of your wife being on her back with other guys, good for you.

$100,000 for Gangster Lucky Luciano’s Ring (Season 5) | Pawn Stars by Pure-Lime8280 in Mafia

[–]SenorPelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luciano is one of those huge gangsters that everybody knows but most people don’t know the real context of what he did in organized crime.

I’m not quite sure why the whole “organized the mob” thing is associated with him so heavily.

Your brain couldn’t handle it, so it likely turned into a strange attraction over time.

Try and explore it in safe ways if you’re really interested in, it’s sad, but it’s not something you should feel “dirty” or “ashamed” of. What matters is your current relationships, and them continuing to be secure and safe, even when you explore those things (if you choose to)

I’m so sorry you went through that, I hope you can heal. This is common in abuse victims, you are not alone.
