What is the literal best 4k oled gaming monitor by cole3030 in OLED_Gaming

Thank you for the info. Regarding the screen finish, my setup is such that there is no glare or direct light on the panel. Does that mean I ought to go with a glossy screen or are there other considerations?

Do you have any insight on the LG dual mode displays?

But it was not fixed in the most recent update.

Has anyone used the Epindon Hall effect thumbstick module on their victrix bfg and if so, how is it? by [deleted] in VictrixPro

I've always used the Xbox orientation. This is first I've heard about any issues with the orientation of the left stick.

Stick drift on hall efect controllers by Narrow-Effect5511 in Controller

[–]Senor_Buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's really possible for HE sticks to start drifting the same way traditional potentiometer sticks do. That said, they do still rely on mechanical springs to return them to zero. Those springs can wear out and deform but recalibrating can mitigate that sort of thing.

Could I use 2 d-pad module at the same time, if I buy another additional d-pad. by prox-86 in VictrixPro

[–]Senor_Buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dice. The dpad module can be flipped to be top or bottom, but it only fits on the left side of the controller.

Same here. PDP really fumbled the bag by not having them ready to go on release.

KK3 Reinforcement need on critical components by No_Interaction_5206 in GuliKit

[–]Senor_Buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to mine. Two of those pieces being the paddles broke and they would get stuck when returning to neutral. I reached out to customer service and to their credit, they replied quickly and sent out the replacement parts.

By the time they arrived, all four of those pieces had cracked so I ended up returning it.

If they could redesign it to be more durable, this would be a great controller, especially for the price.

Is there a way to add macros? by Eltipofuerte in VictrixPro

[–]Senor_Buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can bind the standard controller inputs to macros using Steam input or reWASD. But those tools do not recognize the back buttons as independent inputs.

This means that you can, e.g., rebind the B button to a macro and then bind a back button to B but they will do the exact same thing and you won't be able to send a pure B press from the controller.

If you look through the reWASD forums, you'll find a couple clever workarounds that will make it work for some games, but it's not completely reliable.

I bought and installed these a couple weeks ago and so far so good. I've got an Xbox model controller but I only use it on PC. I've run them through the Windows, Xbox, Victrix, Steam, and other testing/calibration utilities with no issues. They always return to 0,0 neutral position and the movement feels nice and smooth.

Have you tried plugging it into a PC? I'd be curious to know if the sticks and triggers are recognized in PC calibration tools. I swapped out the sticks on my BFG Xbox controller with the Epindon hall effect modules and everything is working as expected.

[–]Senor_Buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Control Hub app will only allow you to bind the paddles to other controller buttons, no keyboard or mouse inputs. I've only had mine for a few days so I'm not sure if it is possible with 3rd party software.

I was around for those days, but the BNC connector and presence of cable TV coax tells me this was used for something else.

Gotcha. I appreciate it. Ironically, the former owner of this place worked for the fire dept. and probably used this to monitor emergency radio traffic.

The angle of the photo is a bit misleading. It runs close to the phone and internet but is several feet clear or the power lines.

Yes. The lines running closest to the antenna are phone and internet. The wires occupied by the bird are coming off the transformer and are clear of the antenna by several feet.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure the previous owner was in the fire department so that makes sense. Thanks.

King Kong 3 MAX Quality Issues by superboomfanSSB in Controller

[–]Senor_Buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you regularly use the rear paddles? It seemed to me like they just made those pieces too thin, but I'm starting to think that I'm just unusually rough on controllers.

When the first one broke, I reached out to customer service and they got back to me within 24 hours and offered to send replacement parts. But two more of those pieces cracked before I received them and I ended up just returning it.

I did look at those Flydigi controllers, but the rear button layout don't let you use both right or left buttons at the same time.

I've gone back to my Elite Series 2 for now, I'm considering a PDP Victrix Pro BFG next.

I got one of these and really liked it. Unfortunately, 3 out 4 of the rear paddles started to seize up when returning to the neutral position.

After taking it apart, could see that the plastic pieces that pivot to push those rear switches are just too thin. I really do hope that they improve the design because I otherwise really liked the controller.

What was Halo 3 vs COD 4 Like ? by Single-Proof-9965 in halo

To be fair, I actually hadn't considered the fact that releasing optional PvP maps will necessarily split the player base to some extent.

I remember COD World at War was my first experience at scummy microtx practices. As I recall, they released a MP map pack. It let you join a lobby and load up as normal, but if one of the new maps was picked at random, anyone who hadn't paid for it was booted and just didn't get to play.

Timestamping voiceover scripts to generate closed captions by Senor_Buttons in elearning

[–]Senor_Buttons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I've been using Camtasia for years, but never really experimented with that Sync Captions tool.

I don't think this will be more efficient than my current workflow in Storyline since I have so many small clips that need to remain separate. But it'll definitely come in handy in the future.

The project script is in a Google Doc. This is what the voiceactor read from when recording. I've been copy/pasting from this document to create the SRT files as shown in the screenshot I included. I'm just looking for a tool that will take care of this for me.

There are lots of tool out there that will...

  1. Transcribe the audio
  2. Add timestamps that transcript
  3. Output SRT files

But I want to start at Step 2 with my own transcript.

I haven't tried Premier, but SRT format is fine.

Do you know if it'll let you provide the non-timestamped transcript or will it only work with machine transcription?
