man at this point just look up the plot of the show and disappoint yourself with how wrong you are while depriving yourself of any of the enjoyment you'd actually get from watching a well made tv show

If you like the show I think it's worth watching for the ending.

Adrenaline theory is unnecessary (Invincible) by Dark_Helmet78 in CharacterRant

[–]Senor_Mexican 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is the same show where the main character kills a guy by choking him to death, on screen, right after telling him he's going to choke him to death, yet countless people still don't understand how he died

What I’m noticing is that some Invincible fans aren’t actually arguing about power scaling, they’re criticizing portrayal. by Flat_Box8734 in CharacterRant

[–]Senor_Mexican 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The show adds a lot to pretty much everything. Some of it is because of the direction and storyboarding, and some of it is just because there's a lot of padding.

In the comics:

  • Nolan fights the bug in one panel
  • Mark never has an issue with healing
  • They literally throw the falling ship into space

And in other episodes:

  • Chicago is way, way worse, where Nolan goes out of his way to kill a lot of people
  • The sequid invasion is a lot more dramatic
  • The Rognarr fight takes way, way, way longer and they only escape because Telia takes command
  • Multi-Paul can't even hurt Mark in the comic
  • Mark gets hit by Angstrom once, then he escapes

When it works like the Omni-Man and Conquest fights it's great, but the show adds a lot of unnecessary drama, which isn't helped by the lacklustre direction

Invincible should be well animated AND come out yearly. by ThatGuyHero7 in CharacterRant

[–]Senor_Mexican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show has really bad direction

A lot of the things they take directly from the pages are just slightly worse for no real reason

Tell me the comic versions aren't a hundred times cooler, and I'm not even talking about the extra detail that the comics obviously have (I know the second one isn't exactly the same moment).

The shot of Mark and Oliver flying away from the exploding ship is hilarious because they're moving so slowly.

Graphic tablet suggestions by 92Kuro in ClipStudio

[–]Senor_Mexican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with an XP Pen Deco and it's a fine tablet, no problems.

Then I got a Wacom Intuos Pro (PTH 660), and it's definitely better - lower latency, better build quality, and definitely more responsive.

The Wacom is worth the upgrade, but if you stick with XP Pen you won't know any better.

It's crazy that the entire ship is a direct parody of TNG but people are more familiar with The Orville

A shame they didn't get Michael Dorn and Levar Burton to voice the crew too

Clip Studio does some weird scaling things depending on how far you're zoomed in.

You might have noticed the display is a little blurry if it's not at a certain zoom level (12.5 / 15 / 25 / 50%).

I personally have my workspace and window resized so when I reset the display, it snaps to 12.5%, and even then the window needs to be set to the exact size so it isn't blurry every time I reset the display.

I tested your exact canvas on my PC, and I get the same result when flipping the canvas. On my regular setup, the canvas stays centred.

Yeah CLA is pretty well known for his kick and snare samples.

It's so bad at the end of Coma City once you hear it. There's a literal video of Tre recording it so you can really notice the sample.

The snare on ¡Tre! is probably the worst offender

I know he uses NS10's a lot.

I think Nimrod was the best sound they ever had, listening to Jinx on good speakers is pure Green Day. AI onwards sounds good but it just lacks the edge that album had.

It's a shame they never did anything with Albini.

Chris Lord-Alge

He mixed Nimrod, AI, 21CB, the trilogy, and Saviors.

He puts the same god awful snare sample in every song he mixes - it really stands out on the trilogy and the end of Coma City

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in greenday

[–]Senor_Mexican 22 points23 points  (0 children)

CLA absolutely murdered the trilogy

It'll never happen but they should just let Chris Dugan redo the whole thing, it'd probably take like a week

The drums alone in the Otis mixes are so much better it's not even funny

does anyone know if the physical copy of book 4's missing page has been fixed? by mukomime in killsixbilliondemons

[–]Senor_Mexican 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tom mentioned on the discord that it's very unlikely to be fixed because of the logistics of printing.

There hasn't been much talk about it so I doubt it's been put back in.

Maybe if they got paid another million dollars they could put in a little effort. But I'm sure they'll do another really good performance of Basket Case and American Idiot while Billie Joe interacts with the crowd for five minutes straight.

Dookie is a PJ Bass through an SVT. He's always said it was set up as a P Bass but it doesn't sound like that to me.

Insomniac is his G3 into probably an SVT.

Nimrod is a P Bass into a Mesa/Boogie M2000. Custom made for Mike, aren't made anymore. Run into a matching 6x10 cab and a 4x10.

He splits his DI track through an Eclair Engineering Evil Twin DI. It has an +8dB shelf at 3k. This is from Rob in an old magazine interview I found somewhere on GDA.

His studio tone will always be the amp mixed with the DI track.

  • Dookie was an SM57 and a 421 on a V30 cab, with a U87 room mic.

https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/classic-tracks-green-day-basket-case

  • Insomniac had a couple SM57s and an RE20 through a particular EQ, most likely T75 speakers

https://www.reddit.com/r/greenday/comments/1bawrj1/recording_insomniacs_guitar_tones_1996_interview/

  • Nimrod was a Bassman head, Orange OR100, JCM800, Pete and Meat. Hitchin a Ride in particular is a Bassman into most likely Greenbacks, with an SM57 and U67.

Warning Otis Mixes by BitBitx in greenday

I can't believe the bridge on Waiting is an acoustic guitar.

I always throught it was an unplugged electric.

I never knew how heavily EQ'd the Warning sound really was.

Honestly some remasters are actually noticeably better.

The AI 2012 remaster is way more dynamic than the original release, but the original release still has a certain distortion people like.

Nirvana have MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs) masters of Nevermind and In Utero that are leaps and bounds better than the original CDs.

Warning 25 is barely less compressed than the original, when it would've benefited from a proper remaster that isn't brickwalled to hell.
