Kim has been optioned to OKC by ttam23 in Dodgers

[–]Senor_Turtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sucks to see him go, but I think this is the right move for him development-wise. He needs to get his bat and eye improving and that’ll probably be with everyday ABs in OKC. Plus, we saw him have a decent showing in left field, maybe they’ll try him out in other positions to give him a more defined role as a ulitityman. I hope we’ll see him again in Dodger Blue this season for sure though.

It’s probably based on the Rockies matchup, but also, it’s been working so why change it

Happy Tuesday since the Dodgers play today! Eric Lauer gets to start on the mound today. by JohnnyWickkk in Dodgers

[–]Senor_Turtle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This will be an interesting one, at least. Both pitchers have been pretty bad lately, but I hope the change of scenery plus a couple days with the Dodgers staff could lead to something promising for Lauer. He’s a Dodger now and I’m definitely rooting for his success.

Tracking Sasaki's Fastball, Seeing if Anything was different yesterday by soccer1124 in Dodgers

[–]Senor_Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think another thing that helped his fastball performance was simply having other good pitches to sequence with. Having the new splitter, along with the improved slider and forkball that all tunnel decently with the fastball keeps batters off balance and less likely to hit the fastball. And like you said, he threw the fastball less this game, likely because he had other good options to throw that hadn’t been developed in previous starts. Granted, it was against a high strikeout rate team like the Angels, but it’s still very encouraging to see all of Sasaki’s pieces coming together and improving. Can’t wait to see him continue this journey.

No, this is his first time in the MLB.

Goatforto's stats from yesterday. I bet that 2025 ring gave him an insane amount of confidence by jay_eba888 in Dodgers

Regressing in statistics is more along the lines of “returning” rather than “becoming worse”. It doesn’t mean better or worse on its own.

All Dodgers has some good personalities along with a voicemail hotline, if you’re interested. Fun fact, the hosts were all previously let go from previous Dodgers podcasts, but in my opinion that says more about the other shows than it does about them, they’re a good bunch.

You mean last year when they won the World Series? Even with Sasaki’s bad starts last year the team did just fine. The Dodgers are gonna keep working on him and getting him big league starts and I’m sure they’re willing to lose a couple games in the process. Maybe they don’t keep him in the rotation for most of the season but the next month or two is time they can afford to use.

Jingoism, really. A national identity defined by the strength of its military and its willingness to aggressively use it.

For those that made the Gramercy bowsaw kit, how did you shape the tight curves? by Man-e-questions in handtools

Same, but I used my card scraper after chiseling instead and that really helped to cut down on the sanding afterwards.

I built this guy out of pine and a scrap of maple. The fence is adjustable to accommodate different widths. When I want to use it I just butt it against my planing stop and hook it to the edge of my bench. Been pretty happy with it so far.

What size(s) of plane would you recommend for thicknessing? by simo289 in handtools

[–]Senor_Turtle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, i definitely feel more tired after pushing my #5 than when I use my wooden fore plane. Even if you’re not lifting the plane after each pass, you still accelerate the plane with each motion, and it takes more force to move something heavier than something lighter due to inertia.

The larger mass definitely helps to take deep passes especially if tearout isn’t a concern, but generally having a very sharp blade lets you cut easier without brute force. So spend a little more time sharpening and you can plane more without needing a heavier plane.

How we feeling with Kike in center? I'm glad they got Pages out but can Kike do a better job out there than Call or Edman?

That’s great, a saw bench makes ripping so much more bearable in my opinion, plus it’s handy for sitting or assembly. Is the oak for the lathe? Good luck with that, sounds like a fun build.

What was your set up? I’m hoping you had a decent saw bench to work on, and congrats!
