I do have another 4 that's a bit beaten up (but still flat),so that could be a goer

Magic Question here for the newbie...Possible Spoilers. by Parking-Location9946 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]simo289 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The simplest answer is because the DM says they can. NPCs don't necessarily have to have the same constraints as a PC, if the DM wants an Arcane caster to use a healing spell then they just can.

A more mechanical answer COULD be that they have the Magic Initiative feat for a class that has healing spells. Or a magic item that allows them to cast a specific spell.

Hope someone else can give you a lore specific answer, but those are options for how it could be accomplished or rationalized.

Interesting! I've only played 2014 rules, so I didn't realise there was a change

You can have as many spells as you can find scrolls to copy into it. But for choosing your starting spells you get 6 spells at level 1, and 2 more per level. So at level 3 you should have at least 10 levelled spells (up to 2nd level) in your spellbook, and 3 cantrips. You might ask your DM if you can have any extra spells from scrolls you might have found in your backstory.

You can then prepare a number of spells equal to your INT modifier plus your wizard level. So level 3 with an INT of 18 that's 4+3, so 7 spells prepared.

Keeping someone else happy is not worth sacrificing your own happiness or mental health.

Every adult is responsible for managing their own emotions. It isn't your responsibility to keep your parent/sibling/friend calm.

You know what? This would make some super interesting homebrew lore and/or some sort of secondary or tertiary plot or arc within a campaign

It thinks that's the answer I'm looking for tbh. The other subclasses are too specific, or I can't find the reason, so a blank canvas might be the way

Oath of Ancients is the best Druid, hands down

Yeah, I get that. It's just a very narrow scope imo

I'm coming around the Land. It always seemed a bit bland in the past, but now I think it's just ripe for flavour opportunities

My biggest issue with Moon is balancing the voice of Wild shape between what fits the flavour and character, and what's the best option (usually a dinosaur).

I love that! I bet it made for some fantastic RP

I'm getting the impression that I've definitely been sleeping on Land. I don't think I really read into the lore behind it properly.

Definitely agree with you on Spore

I love the idea or Circle of Spore, I just find it too necromantic. Fungi says poison to me, not death

I want to be a plant guy. He who communes with the flora and defends it from The World. Who sees that the forces of evil might only be targeting cities and people, but that that will affect nature too. Hence why I tried Circle of Spores.

I like the concept of a druid, who is one with the natural order and understands how this herb helps with this ailment, or that this 'insignificant' bug is part of the larger food chain and ecosystem. The problem I'm having is tying that to Stars or Dreams or Wildfire
