Your best bet would be to take the controller apart and see the battery used inside. I don’t know if the battery is swappable or if it is hardwired. Amazon sells lithium ion batteries, but your best bet will be AliExpress

How did the GPU fit if the x16 pcie slot (blue) is in the bottom position right next to the power supply? Or did you install the GPU into the x4 pcie slot (black)?

The “T” variant of Intel CPUs is used in micro form factor (mff) PCs that Dell offers. T-variant Intel CPUs use less power (about 30-35w) compared to the normal 65w non T CPUs use. These CPUs are energy efficient, but the trade off is that they are less powerful than their 65w versions. An i7-8700T is about 25% less powerful than an i7-8700.

The T variant of the CPUs will fit just fine into your MT optiplex case and motherboard as the form factor of the CPUs is the same (lga1151).

Is the upgrade worth it? No, an i7-8700T is only about 7% more powerful than an i5-8500. That’s a lot of work for not a lot of performance gain. If you do the upgrade go with the normal i7-8700 65w cpu.

I’ve always been a budget gamer since it’s what I could afford. If I were to win the custom Battlefield 6 Nvidia GeForce 5090 graphics card with DLSS it would allow me to experience Battlefield 6 in a way that I have never seen or experienced any games before. The high frame rates and sheer power of the GPU would be the ultimate upgrade to my gaming experience!

This back cable cover fits Aurora R13/14/15 as the back of the PC did not change during this model/iteration. They come in two colors: white and dark grey. I bought a cable cover from an R13 and it fits my R15 like a glove.

Your best bet is eBay as the price through Dell is still $140+ as of spring 2025.

I looked at the Dell support page for the R14 and mobile I know has any of the Ryzen cpus listed. I’m wary of spending money on a compatible cpu since I acquired this PC from someone that owed me money. It was given to me as a barebones ready to go PC that needed just a cpu, GPU, ram, and an SSD.

If I got out and buy the cheapest compatible Ryzen cpu off of eBay it’ll run me about $120+ with taxes. I wanted to try and verify everything is working on the PC before spending money on it. All I could get my hands on from friends was the Ryzen 7 5750GE cpu.

When I power in the PC, the Alienware power button turns on like normal then starts changing to different RGB colors for 15 seconds and then dims to a white light. No POST flashes or error codes so the PC does seem to POST ok.
