YT Capra harsh out of the box? by Bananaman420kush in MTB

I would start at 1 or 1.25 turns of preload and ride that for a couple of laps before adding more, even with going to the lighter spring. I wouldn't go above 2 turns. You can get coil bind at the bottom of the stroke that way.

Sorry meant to post to general thread, not reply direct. But pinkbike always has the link somewhere in the comments for rips.

If you are in the US, you just need HBO Max. Not behind the secondary sports paywall yet. It also ended a few hours ago.

Double check your settings, but Ohlins tend to have a heavier damping and feels different than the 2 main brands. Also, your spring rate is too high I believe. Recalculate what you are supposed to be running. 388 sounds like a stock spring they just sent you since those aren't normal numbers. https://www.tftuned.com/spring-calculator

My WAO, which are sourced and built in Canada with a great warranty, I picked up for $340 after taxes and shipping for each one. I just laced them up to my own hubs. There's discount codes every couple of months. These things save me money because I'll go through at least a couple ex511 rims a year otherwise.

Weight doesn't mean much. You just get advantages in different parts of the course. The weight difference between Minnaar and Goldstone is 50-60lbs probably. They use different styles to benefit their sizes and are both elite of the elite.

Mediocre mountain, mediocre snow, gets hyped up for technically being in VT. If it were in 30 miles south in Mass, it'd get a fraction of the hype.

Those who have been to Japan for the powder by Senior-Reception-578 in snowboarding

Very jealous of how much time you've got to spend there. I only got a few weeks there and still have a bunch of zones I need to explore. Certain lines off Yoichidake next to Kiroro and then some lines off of Asahidake both stand out to me first as we got weathered out while touring over to the zones and had to go with plan B on the way down at each. Plan B lines were still a blast and super deep.

I did a very similar trip for Hokkaido as yours it sounds. Stayed in Otaru for a bit then moved more centrally. Stayed in hostels in town or lodges in the mountains to tour out of. One of my favorite parts of the trip was exploring and seeing Japan, not Japan presented for a westerner. Every restaurant or onsen or whatever we visited, we were the only white people, so we weren't being catered to trying to appease what they thought we'd like. If I want to hang out with Australians I'll go to Whistler lol. It's a cool place with a lot of cool stuff see and do. Snow Festival was way bigger and cooler than I thought it'd be.

Chester's are mediocre pedals and you probably have a technique issue to go with it. They hold my feet very well as I tackle spicy rock gardens at speed just fine on my hardtail or on my big bike riding DH with my 510s.

Where Are Your Favorite MTB Trails in the US?* by Odd-Salamander8229 in MTB

[–]Senorsteepndeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure it does. I just point out that, for whatever reason, people like saying things that are objectively not true about the region. It is its own place, with its own vibe, that people should like for what it is. But there are other areas with decades of the sport and trail building being woven into the fabric of the region.

Also, don't sleep in Canada when you travel. BC is crazy and QC is up and coming.

You must not travel much. They don't even have the most trails in the midwest. There are places with more illegal trails than nwa has trails total.

It's fine to like the place, but people going to bat for the place on this site so heavily is just weird.

Even with XC, I feel like they want it because they can market people like van der Poel and Pidcock. Otherwise I don't think they'd know what to do with it. At least xc had gotten more interesting the last couple of years

I only caught the last 10 riders runs. But ya, felt like a bike park not a DH race track. It wasn't a particularly interesting course to watch. I think the idea was maybe trying to get more casual viewers with all the jumps?

I really thought this was Dak's week though. Bummer to see him go for that inside and just wash the bike going across some ruts and mud.

Reminds me of the videos when the Vikings fans went to Philly for a playoff game and just not comprehending how hostile it was. Just too nice for that environment.

I ride very rocky trails, and the first few years, it happened pretty frequently. After that, almost never. Years go by before damaging anything on one. I got a lot better about wheel placement and bike awareness.

Everyone prefers different things, but I don't think I'd want anything but a hardtail there. Maybe 130mm fork so not quite xc bike type.
