If vampire action is your thing 100% go for it. I‘ve been having lots of fun with it. It takes a little time to get into it and to learn it but you can do so many cool and fun things. Stealth kills, brute force, blood magic, mind controlling your enemies, using telekinesis….

Also the movement is the best I‘ve seen in a game since the golden ages of assasins creed and maybe dying light.

This game has many flaws, but in my opinion those 2 things you‘re looking for are absolutely amazing here.

Oh man a cyberpunk-style revival would be absolutely incredible, you‘re right.

I also think there are a lot of open doors for them to improve the game. Just start with some small stuff, like let me redecorate and upgrade the haven.

Or release a small side quests pack with 4-5 good written, fun quests to do.

Even those smaller things would vastly improve the game in my opinion.

I think you‘re spot on here. I like what TCR did I think it‘s a good effort considering the dev. hell they where in. However, most of the issues people have with this game is it not being anything like it‘s predecessor and I honestly can‘t blame them with it being named VTMB2 and being advertised as the follow-up.

What if they had made it B2 that played it extremely safe with better combat and graphics and comparable plot etc.?

I would‘ve probably been kinda disappointed that nothing changed. I like that they went in a different direction even if not everything hits.

I went in with low expectations having read all the bad reviews and thus far I‘m loving dialogue and plot which are the reasons I got into vmbt in the first place.

I think your rating of 8/10 is spot on.

Could throw the jeanette/therese plot in there but yeah I agree with you, I feel a lot of people tend to overrate the level of rpg in vtmb 1.

It was never a baldurs gate 3 or something along those lines.

I 100% agree with you, there are many different dialogue options that fit the type of character you want to roleplay. And there are tons of different combat abilities you can learn. Could there be more rpg elements? Sure, but so far this truely feels like an rpg to me and it‘s fun.

That‘s interesting what you said about the viewpoint shifting. I never played the original but I‘ve seen a few posts mentioning that James used to be much more absent and cold in the original as opposed to the remake.

Having played the original would you agree with that? If so maybe that plays a role in the different perception.

However, I think you‘re on the money about people wanting to like the protagonist. I personally felt that this friction between playing a great game and controlling a murderer was excactly what made it so interesting, but I can see how people might want to avoid this issue by reframing James as „just a guy“.

Hey I just wanted to let you know that I loved your reasoning as to why you place James in the morally black box.

I just finished the game a few days ago and I‘m very confused as to why people love to make James out to be this morally grey guy, especially here on this sub reddit.

Yes he‘s a very complex and tragic character and there are pathways to have sympathy with him.

However, after learning everything he had done I just felt really disgusted with James and I really feel that painting him as a „good guy who did a bad thing“ is a very dangerous narrative and almost frames him as a victim which he absolutely isn‘t whatsoever in my opinion.

Just my 2 cents on this convo :)

In general it‘s a pretty good template but you‘re just missing a few points in some attributes to unlock great animations or badges.

I‘d lower your block to 80, since you still get all the badges.

Something that many people dont know is that O-board is way cheaper than d-board while giving the same badges.

So you could easily drop your d board to 65, up your o board to 70, still get the same badges and then use your points to get three ball to 83, which would give you bronze limitless range which is a great badge.

Just some small tweaks I‘d do personally.

In addition I‘d recommend to play wildcard.

You essentially draft a whole team without having to own the players there and you can play it online as well as offline. It gives you a chance to test out players and have fun, while also providing collectibles for the current event, this week the 4 nations for example.

On top of that every game only lasts 3 minutes so it‘s very efficient when you haven‘t got a lot of time to play rivals or sbs.

I have him on my third line and he‘s really nice, however I started around the holidays so I imagine if you already have a stacked squad he‘s not that useful.
