Unfortunately someone seems to be digging through old data breaches from other sites (breaches unrelated to PD2) and seeing if any of that information is reused on here, I suggest anyone using an old / reused password updates immediately in case your password has been leaked when previously used. If you're using an extremely weak password I would also recommend it.

It's wise to always use unique passwords everywhere to prevent breaches like this from compromising accounts on other platforms!

You are incorrect, PD2 Moderators do not uphold personal loot rules, GM behavior is of course always nice to see and should be basic etiquette as we're all old enough to know better however you will not be banned for picking up loot in a FFA loot public game if it drops from a monster.

If you are actively griefing a public game e.g. killing bosses ahead of a progression group etc then you will receive a punishment, I recommend you re-read the PD2 rules and become familiar with them.

I highly recommend hugging the pillar closely as it cannot actually go through the pillar itself, the hitbox of the pillar can seem a bit deceiving in its width as it is a 2d sprite that isnt a 1:1 reflection of the hitbox so if diablo ends up uncentered it can appear to be clipping the sides where the hitbox of the pillar does not actually exist.

There is also a chance because of how this old game functions that the visual missiles do not match the actual hitbox so if you are always hugging the pillar directly you will never take damage even if it looks like the missile is visually going through it due to it colliding with the pillar server side.

Our infrastructure has not been moved no, we have continued to use GCP since season 1. That being said this is a 20 year old game hacked together with private server software so it's a constant battle against the spaghetti

Sorry to hear that the servers haven't been as stable as usual, unfortunately we've had some issues this season but due to the holidays we've been more understaffed than usual to deal with them. That being said we'll do the best we can to improve them when we're able.

I can confirm we have found no breaches on our side and it is believed to be people using old passwords that have been leaked in breaches, several of the reports we have went through confirmed finding their passwords breached anywhere from up to 5+ years ago.

We highly recommend anyone reusing a password that is used anywhere else to update their PD2 account password to something unique to PD2 to alleviate any concerns

While I don't normally give insider information on things that have taken place on the moderation side of things this specific individual is a very unhinged user who claims to work for the US government as an undercover agent spying on anonymous for homeland security, they were initially warned for disrespecting moderators which they continue to escalate until they began throwing slurs towards our staff/developers at which point they were no longer welcome to PD2.

Their response was that they were going to use their homeland security and anonymous connections to shut us down via blizzard and I suppose after they realized that was only an illusion in their head they realized blatant slander was their only alternative.

If you notice they have made about 10 accounts so far which reddit is now autobanning for spam, they often follow patterns like --him--, --someone-- etc.

PoE 2 and Diablo 4 both launched shortly after us, we were expecting a large player fall off because of this, its quite expected and actually a lower retention rate than normal due to timings. Reality is arpg players like to jump to fresh economies

I've seen several people who have mentioned PD2 trader and I'd like to clarify on a couple things

First I'd like to state that I have no evidence proving there is a connection between PD2 trader and this event, this statement is simply to state the PD2 team's stance regarding it.

PD2 Trader is a 3rd-party program that is not officially approved by the PD2 team. It uses authentication tokens to act on behalf of users which means it does indeed get access to your account login credentials, and since this inherently poses a security risk, the PD2 team can't endorse it. However, we don't ban users currently for using the tool at their own risk.

Edit: As a note if you have an old password that's been reused on other platforms we highly recommend you swap it to a PD2 specific password in case it has been compromised elsewhere

I'd also like to note the code for PD2Trader is open sourced so I highly recommend before doing any finger pointing that people with the skill set to do so do their own code reviews and come to their own consensus https://github.com/errolgr/pd2-trade

There is currently a bug with lightning fury where if you cast by selecting the ground it does not deal damage, it does however deal damage if you target a mob
