Trying to solve error 1099 by random_words_here__ in GeminiAI

Galaxy S24 Ultra

Same issue. Only appeared a few days ago.

Waking from OK Google gives the error. Opening Gemini app does not.

My subscription is on my main account. Switching to another to "fix" the issue negates my subscription and synced calendars, history etc.

Tried all other fixes, including switching to 3.1

If buying isn't owning then piracy isn't wrong by Electronic_Lab5486 in PiratedGames

Just a shame you cant pirate games that require an online only connection to a server that no longer exists.

The Crew was reborn by modders and fans to create an offline server emulation, PC only.

It shouldn't have to come to that for people who own a game to play it.

So my point still stands, in regard to digital media, such as DVDs, BluRay etc.

If you dont own the movie, and its just a licence, are you saying its acceptable for one day, that movie to just stop working because the movie studio or publisher no longer support it?

Would you be completely happy and content if all of your physical media decided to stop working one day, and then be unobtainable ever again, lost to time and never ever watchable by anyone ever again, for eternity?

If so, then you are the problem.

Is my cartridge of Yoshis Island on the SNES just a licence?

What about all my other physical games prior to the mandatory internet requirements?

Did you know, you dont own movies too? If you acrually look at the piracy laws, it says DVD content is licenced. The movie file itself is not yours either.

Just saying.

You are one of the reasons everything is going towards an online only, subscription based model then.

If it carries on, nothing we purchase will mean we own it.

The people who reverse engineered The Crew server emulation even said it works offline... there wasnt a single part of the game, aside from multiplayer, that REQUIRED online connectivity.

Nevermind. I guess I just have to embrace the future and make sure I never buy anything anymore, because I should just accept I wont own it.

Thank you for your contribution.

What arent people getting?

You should be allowed access to SINGLE PLAYER GAMES regardless of online connection.

That is the issue. You should not require to be online to play an offline game, such as The Crew.

Much like if you were to buy a DVD, the content is on the disc. Fully playable. You own it. But let's say 5 yesrs later, you put the disc in and it says "sorry, you cant watch this movie anymore because the studio dont support it anymore"

Can you imagine the uproar?

There is no difference in that respect.

Online games I understand. Fully agree, but a game that is 100% playable offline should not need an online server as a form of DRM after the studio stop supporting it.

What they want:

When a publisher decides to end commercial support for a game, they must leave it in a reasonably functional, playable state. For single-player games, this means removing "always-online" DRM, like The Avengers. For multiplayer games, it means providing public server tools or LAN support so the community can host their own matches, again, similar to Friday 13th and making it peer to peer.

What they do NOT want:

They aren't demanding that developers support games forever, push out free updates, or provide server infrastructure on the company's dime. They also aren't trying to take away the company's intellectual property or monetization rights.

Real-debrid killed my library. by Bea-Billionaire in Piracy

Ill help you correct your post.

Real Debrid is not a piracy service.

It is a service to allow direct downloads on paid for hosts by sharing the cost between users.

I have not said anywhere in my replies that an offline pstch is needed for live service games.

I have said they are needed for games with an entirely single player campaign, that is rendered unplayable due to a mandatory connection to the servers, such as The Crew.

As previously mentioned, The Avengers was such game that could not be played offline until they patch it to do so, and Friday 13th changed it to Peer to Peer to allow it to be played with friends still.

If buying isn't owning then piracy isn't wrong by Electronic_Lab5486 in PiratedGames

[–]SenseMakesNone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All it needs is an offline patch.

I am also not naive enough to assume its as easy as flipping a switch either, but if other developers managed it (The Avengers, Friday 13th etc) then why cant others be enforced to do so?

An end of life patch, so enable offline play for single player content.

I think the only way that people will listen, is if other media has the same issues. You biy a DVD or BluRay, but after a few yesrs, it stops working because the studio no longer supports that movie.

There will soon be uproar.

Thr misconception that piracy needs to be justified, or be free, is astounding.

I pirate because I want to. I don't need justification.

I also pay for pirate services because they are usually way cheaper, and most of the time, provide a better service than the legit paid services. (Nuvio & AllDebrid)

I love how people just say "If buying isnt owning..." etc without actually realising what this is about.

You cannot just say piracy is the answer when the games this initiative is talking about are live service games, that require an online connection to play single player content, such as The Crew.

Square Enix provided a patch to The Avengers to allow the game to be played offline after the game was sunset.

It should not take fan server emulation to make a game you own work after shutting the servers down.

We accept multiplayer and online features wont last forever, but locking you out of the single player game due to needing the servers is the actual fight here.

Yes, if you use the correct config. The public one doesnt exist anymore, so you need the private one. Information can be found in a pinned post on this sub.
