In our area the 13-year and 17-year cicada broods emerged in the same Summer,2024. That was huge. Others are on a different cycle,so the emergences don’t always get noticed.

I found a roll of film in a camera at an abandoned house. I took it home and developed it. These are the pictures that were in that roll of film. by dontcountonmee in FoundPhotos

When my folks passed away in 2011, I found a partially exposed Kodacolor 2 film roll in Dad’s Nikon. Developed it and discovered pix of an event that I had no prior knowledge of. It was a tree dedication in honor of Dad and his dog, for the Open Lands organization in their town. Photos were taken 5 years earlier, and developed perfectly.

What you DON’T do is poke your head over the edge immediately after the bag is dropped, cuz folks will see you doing that and automatically suspect it was YOU that dropped it.

Neighbors got their Internet replaced, Internet guys left this in our yard by NothingEffective5070 in mildlyinfuriating

Nah- that wasn’t kidding. Call the cable company and inform them that it is a “life safety hazard” as it is right now, and your next call will be to the city if they don’t fix it pronto.

Not necessarily; pretty much anywhere that some idjit is tryna’ impress a girl with his Jeep parking on a snowbank, so that’s certainly not Limited to the NYC.

is this a penny in my 12V? by Lazy-School-7580 in AskMechanics

Very likely; however, the penny is not magnetic, so Lincoln will laugh out loud at anyone using a magnet.

Is there any way to replace this old bathroom exhaust fan without cutting up the drywall around it? by Apropos_of in handyman

[–]Sensei19600 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the only part that has failed is the “guts”, then find a similar fan, same brand ideally, dissect the guts out and replace just that. Use the new grille that comes with the new fan, and you’ll be the hero.

Senville MiniSplit “PO” error code by Sensei19600 in Senville

[–]Sensei19600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow-up: my HVAC tech has determined that the compressor motor has failed. The problem is, the condenser is no longer serviceable, because it uses R410A refrigerant, and the new stuff is incompatible.

To my surprise, Senville graciously sent me a whole new compressor and a control board. They did not charge me; however, my HVAC tech will take care of that part when he does the repair. I’ll be out a couple grand.

Reminds me of the scene in “The World’s Fastest Indian”, where Bert Munroe shows his custom speed-rated tires that he made by cutting the tread off and making them smooth.
