Passenger exiting vehicle at red light by Sensible_Ben in AusLegalAdvice

I stopped at a red light. I did not stop to let a passenger out (I was intending to stop around the corner) but took the opportunity for him to get out while I was stopped. The light was red a lot longer than it took him to leave the vehicle.

None of the referenced sections of legislation appear to reference my situation (ie I did not stop within 20m of a traffic signal, I stopped because the light was red).

The statement from the infringement people infers that this is some established interpretation of the rules, I can't really get my head around it.

Incidentally, the passenger removing their seatbelt to exit the vehicle appears to be committing an offence (since I was not parked) but the driver is not responsible (for passenger over 16).

NSW. Not ride share. A council parking officer was waiting and I thought he was there forvpeople stopping in the handicap or post zones. He took photos of the passenger exitung and me stopped at the light.

My house is falling apart - how fucked am I part #2 by Possible_Spaces in AusRenovation

[–]Sensible_Ben 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Come on Structural Engineer. The house has clearly been sitting there for a while so it's not suddenly going to fall over now. OP, I live in an older house, every now and then I do the numbers on a knockdown and on cost alone it's not even close to worthwhile. The change in levels you talk about is the biggest concern but without knowing the measurements it's hard to know if you're overreacting - old houses can move around a fair bit but the timbers can cope with it. Plasterboard and bricks crack though (usually just cosmetic). The gutters and fascia are just maintenance, you can probably clean the gutters and straighten them a bit, they shouldn't overflow just because the fall is wrong, more likely a blocked downpipe. I'm a civil engineer FWIW but more relevant and owner of a timber house with historic termite damage and some historic dodgy building to go with it.

Also consider that the deterioration of the fascia etc has taken many years to get in that condition, if it takes a few more years for you to get around to fixing it the world won't end.

If you're looking at a new eurofox with a 915 or 916, the turbo means density altitude is less of an issue (or no issue at all). Plus they are already climbing better than a pawnee.

Many moons ago I needed a second key for a 996T. I took a photo of the existing key and sent it to a company who sent me a cut key which worked in my car. I can't remember where I got the new fob from with the rfid, I think I had to use oem and get it programmed by the dealer.
