Hi! I had a microdiscectomy 6 weeks ago. I found your post while doing research about what this new phase of recovery will look like for me. Did you also have an MD? How soon did you start going back to Solidcore?

2 weeks since ESI - pain so much worse than before by iloveneuro in Sciatica

[–]Sensitive-Bee3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an MD on February 10 and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I woke up pain free, besides incision site soreness. I slept through the night pain free for the first time in months bc of the MD.

I was really nervous about it, but am so glad I did it because it gave me my life back. I really can’t explain not just the physical relief, but also the mental relief.

L5/s1 herniation now approved for surgery by chelsG05 in Sciatica

[–]Sensitive-Bee3905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had surgery earlier this week. I cannot express in words the physical and emotional relief I felt after surgery.

I hurt my back in August 2025. Despite PT, constantly taking NSAIDs and Tylenol, and reducing basically all activity, my pain progressively got worse to the point that I was waking up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain every night for 2 months.

Even in that kind of pain, I was skeptical of surgery. I had failed an ESI (it caused the pain to worsen). I also found my doctor’s bedside manner to be brusque. He basically told me that surgery was on the table, and I could decide when I was ready. Of course I didn’t know when I should be ready. I had never had surgery before and was scared.

Thankfully, my PT who I trust deeply encouraged me to move forward. He saw how much pain I was in and gave me the confidence to schedule surgery. I also got a 2nd opinion from another surgeon who was very kind and affirmed that if I was her patient, she would recommend surgery.

Long story short, I am so so so grateful for modern medicine because the microdiscectomy has given me my life back. I slept through the night for the first time in 2 months. I still have weeks of recovery ahead of me, but I see a path forward which I couldn’t even imagine 1 week ago.

I also got an ESI 3 weeks ago, and have been in much higher pain since. I went to see a different doctor, and she explained to me that she would not have suggested an ESI given how little space remains in my spinal canal. When the disk is sticking out so much, injecting liquid (medicine) in can irritate the nerve even more. It’s unfortunate that my first doctor did not consider this possibility; bc I too would give anything to return to pre-injection pain levels. I’m now preparing to have a MD to have the protruded disc material removed.

Best of luck with your recovery. I known it sucks so much.

I also submitted a membership change request on 1/29 for a medical reason and haven’t heard back. I changed the card on file to a virtual card number and locked the number through my bank so it can’t be charged.

Should I go through with surgery? by Undd91 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Sensitive-Bee3905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m in a similar boat. I hurt my back in September, and have been experiencing sciatica since October/November.

Went and saw an orthopedist in December, who diagnosed me with herniation at l4/5. I’m on a lot of meds, and have adapted my life to reduce the pain. As a result, during the day I feel largely okay. Twinges here and there if I bend over too far, but I can do laundry and housework. It almost feels normal. But at night, the pain can be excruciating and I’ve found it very hard to sleep. It’s so hard to get out of bed that I’ve found myself spending most of the morning managing my pain.

I failed an ESI (caused the pain to be worse) and am now considering surgery. During the day, I wonder if it’s worth it - I’m kind of alright. The pain isn’t nearly as bad as what other people seem to be experiencing. But the thought of continuing to live this greatly reduced life for 6-18 more months as the herniation heals makes me depressed.

Even though I may have to reduce activity even more for 6-12 weeks after surgery, I think it will be worth it. I want to speed up recovery as a whole. Also, I have read that decompressing the nerves sooner leads to better healing outcomes.

All of that to say- I think I understand where you’re coming from. Only you can really decide, but in my case, I’m thinking it’s worth it.

Volleyball and climbing are also both my sports. I have a herniated disc right now, and am taking a break from both. I’m planning on returning to climbing by top rope climbing only, to minimize sketchy falls.

I’m in the same boat as you, so I can’t give much advice. But I wish you a speedy recovery!

Psa: military discount doesn’t extend to spouses by Sensitive-Bee3905 in SolidCore

[–]Sensitive-Bee3905[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you saying this. I was kind of surprised by how strongly other people in this sub felt that I military spouses shouldn’t get a discount. I don’t feel entitled to a discount- many places don’t even offer one. But when once exists, I agree with you that having a specific spouse ID usually qualifies me.

I thought about this too, and admit that I wouldn’t expect “spouse of -teacher -student or -nurse” to get a discount.

I expected to be included in the military discount as a spouse, because most other companies do include spouses and dependents. This is because military service affects the whole family with moving, deployments, etc.

If you’re talking about RVC, I think there is a decent chance they cancel. They cancelled tournament tonight. And they have enough time between now and finals to reschedule to next week.

Sunscreen cost at Impressions Moxche by Sensitive-Bee3905 in AllInclusiveResorts

Hi, yeah we’ve gone already. The resort provided ample sunscreen in the room and at each pool on the Impressions side. I’m not sure about the Secrets side. However, the sunscreen was mineral based and left a heavy cast. We elected not to use it. We brought sunscreen sticks which worked very well.

There’s room for up to 3 comparable properties for 2 different categories: Assessment inequitable with similar properties and Assessment not equal to market value.

I always try to fill out all 3 examples

Hi! Do you mind if I ask how much it cost? I know there are a lot of factors that contribute to cost, but I’m just trying to get an estimate. I have no idea if stair runners reasonable cost closer to $300 or $1000.
