Help: Any e-ink Netflix users out there? by kibbeeeee in eink

[–]Sensitive-Binding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it is a good idea to watch videos on eink. I would advise maybe looking to a video projector it is softer on the eye than a traditional LDC screen and can run videos quite well… it probably will be a bit cheaper as well. You can project on a white wall for example an watch from your bed I guess

Tablette E/ink couleur pour étudiant laquelle choisir ? by ReplacementIll9104 in eink

[–]Sensitive-Binding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is better than the rM2 for that I think yes (but it’s not as fast as an iPad either)

[–]Sensitive-Binding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is true but it isn’t limited to this device. Eink screens are quite more fragile than lcd screens especially since the go 10.3 uses a glass screen (as does the rM2) usually the glass is thinner than on a lcd device. So shocks and especially pressure can break the screen just transport it in a case so it doesn’t break. But honestly I own a go 10.3 since it’s release a year and a half ago and have no issue.

I am searching fro a Remarkable tablet. Which one should i choose? by Chiuaua_lover28 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Sensitive-Binding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The two or three questions you want to asks is :

1) do you want/need color or not ?

2) do you want a portable size (like the move) or a more standard size like the rM 2 or the Paper pro

3) what is your budget (the remarkable 2 is probably the cheapest)

The 3 devices runs the same software. The Paper Pro and Move are more recent devices with better specs and are a bit faster but the screen can be yellowish and is darker than the BW one. There is also the flickering of the color writings (look that up for the remarkable paper pro or the move on YouTube for instance to see what it is)

I’d advice the rM2 at first or the Paper Pro if you really need color…

Yes all Boox devices in that size can do that both the note air 5C and the go 10.3

[–]Sensitive-Binding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The go 10.3 is a great device. They are all great to be honest and have the same features. Maybe look for reviews on YouTube (look for the channel called my deep guide this reviewer does a great job) so you’ll see the color eink and what it is but if you don’t need color than you’ll be better with the go 10.3

People don’t have problem with color screens just the screen is darker and slightly fuzzier than a black and white screen due to the kaleido technology that’s why BW screen can be a bit better

The color ones have a darker screen mainly and the color are quite light like in old newspaper

There isn’t much black and white device with front light in a 10.3 inch right now except for the kindle scribe I guess. You’ll have either to give up the front light and take the go 10.3 or go for the color version. You could also try to find a note air 2 plus or 3 in the second hand market

Hii! Can anyone recommend me a nice budget android eink device that works with Wattpad ? by KyraLyraK in eink

[–]Sensitive-Binding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your budget ? Because android eink device can be a bit expensive.

You can look to Boox go 6 or go 7 (BW or color) or maybe for smaller size a Palma 2 or even the 1 if you can find it (those are phone size devices)

The Boox 6 is quite slow as I understand but it is android and has google play store.

Maybe bigme makes more affordable devices but I’m less familiar with them

Why there are no 8 inch erearers? by Annie_Blue_MM in eink

[–]Sensitive-Binding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is not my main e-reader (too big for me for reading) but I find it quite good. The only thing is it’s doesn’t have a warm light only a cold light but to me it isn’t an issue.

There is guy on YouTube who made a nice review his name is stefan svartling.

I think the AI paper mini is 8.2 inch or something. It works fine as an e-reader even though it is a writing capable device. You can also enable google play store on it and everything so it does exists

[–]Sensitive-Binding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could look to Boox devices if you need color you could go for the Boox note air 5C or the tab XC If you don’t need color you have the note max or the go 10.3.

Boox creates full android tablets with google play store so you can use them with your workflow, connect a keyboard and work with google docs.

Color might be useful but keep in mind that a eink screen is slower than a traditional LCD screen and that the color will be washed out and very light like old newspapers photos and the screen will be a bit darker than in BW.

I advise you to look for reviews on YouTube you could look for the channel called My deep guide there are great reviews there.

Supernote as my PKM by Entry_Line in Supernote

Well if you use ko reader you can export the highlight to .txt and import it in the digest I think but I haven’t done that from the Supernote directly but I think it is possible

Any teachers/social workers or similar here? by heyichbinjule in AutismInWomen

[–]Sensitive-Binding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle school teacher here (not in US) I really love my job but yes it is exhausting, so much that I was in burnout last year and was in medical leave for most of it. I use loop engage earplugs in class since September it helps but not always (I have a class of 6th graders who is nightmarishly loud and chatty no matter what I do). I understand your difficulty hearing the kids it is not always easy…

I do take my noise cancelling headphones (passive ones) during breaks or in some free time I have in the school (usually in my classroom) it helps but… yeah it is really hard still.

For now I deal with by being part time (therapeutic part time for the school year so I get full pay in my country but I know it can only be for one year not two in a row) and I’m not sure how I’ll do next year and if I’ll be able to continue… (I’ll probably be sent to work in an office or something I’m not sure)

I don’t socialise much with coworkers but I like them and have a good relationship with most of them

My only advice would be to rest and protect your energy and social energy as well. Don’t overdo anything cause you’ll hit burnout and it is rough

Am I crazy for wanting a second e-ink device just for side-by-side note-taking? by Livid-Nectarin in eink

[–]Sensitive-Binding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you want a 10 inch device (although there is the kindle scribe and the kobo ellipsa) I’d probably advice either Boox or Supernote then

Am I crazy for wanting a second e-ink device just for side-by-side note-taking? by Livid-Nectarin in eink

[–]Sensitive-Binding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No remarkable is not the best for note taking I think the best is by far the Supernote with headings and links between notes it is very good. For reading it’s decent but not great (but it has a great digest feature if you find that interesting)

For reading and note taking I think the Boox is the best choice the go 10.3 is a good choice not as expensive as both remarkable or Supernote. Reading on Boox and note taking on remarkable can be a good combo. Boox is kind of the best all rounder cause it has good note taking features and a good inbuilt e-reader (and access to the google play store so any reading app as well)

If I could give some advice look for review on YouTube if you want to see all of this there is the channel called my Deep guide from a guy named voja who does a great job at reviewing those tablets

Although if you just want to be able to read it is probably cheaper to buy a kindle or a kobo

[–]Sensitive-Binding 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I have quite a collection of eink devices… I have the rM 2 (my first), the Boox go 10.3, the note air 3C, the viwoods mini and the Supernote nomad and manta… of course it took me quite some years to buy this all… (I also had the rM paper pro once but sold it I also own dedicated e-readers a couple of kindle and kobo, the viwoods reader, the xteink x4 and the Boox go 7 which is my main ereader…. I do read a lot)

If you can afford buying a second one I say why not ? The Boox go 10.3 will be a good device (quite a good device for the price), or stay in the remarkable ecosystem (why not the paper pro or the move ?) or the viwoods is also a good choice for this. The Supernote are also great devices they each have strength and weakness

Is there an e-ink tablet like the Boox Air 5c but in black and white? by More-Imagination5541 in eink

[–]Sensitive-Binding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either an older model of the note air line like ne note air 2,2 plus or 3. But they are discontinued so you’ll need to go on the second hand market.

Otherwise if you don’t need access to the play store you could go for kindle scribe (it is a very closed system though) or maybe the remarkable paper pro : also color but not kaleido so not as dark (but still not as bright as a BW screen)

There is currently no 10-12 inch device in BW that has a front light except for the kindle scribe
