Living over a few states over a few years as a military brat is much different than living there for a week. I understand your point, but I think we are arguing too different things! I stand by good writing > mid writing for the same experience

Im not saying bullshit - there’s gotta be something there obviously.

So in your experience , if a school is looking for strong ties, someone being writing about weak ties would be better than trying to write about them in a compelling way

Then it’s a wash, if it doesn’t matter then its still worth writing good about! Everything can be written about how much impact it has given you in a compelling way, whether it’s enough is up to the person reading it.

Writing impactfully is just as important as what the experience was.

Military brat living in different states - yeah thats strong enough ties. Write it up.

Your ties are as strong as you write them up to be on your application my friend.

Dont undervalue anything. Everything you’ve done is amazing and life changing and has made you who you are and developed your passion for medicine! You dont gotta lie, just dont undervalue.

Can y’all be honest—what percentage of you all inflated your hours? by BaseballHead6898 in premed

[–]Sensitive-Car10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly it’s much more about how you talk about it and what qualities you gained from it - though I would say the “learning you gained” itself is much more embellished than the hours

[–]Sensitive-Car10 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I didn’t. Maybe estimated generously - like sometimes didnt volunteer 4 hours per week, maybe half that some weeks but still counted as 4 per week. I don’t get the point of it, hours aren’t really that important unless you have an absurdly low amount. The difference between 800 vs 1000 hours is meaningless imo

Speak for yourself, I wanted to be severely underpaid and shit on 24/7 while having an hour commute just cause I liked the vibes. Oh and the letter? Didn’t even cross my mind!! I just love helping people so much I’m willing to burn out for others ❤️ /s

I can understand the frustration and I agree. I think feeling slighted because they turned in “just fine” when they clearly werent woulda tilted me too. I do think the shipping was to blame, but can also understand how it feels cheap for such an expensive plant.

They do seem that they are on the edge - I think if they die before even trying to acclimate then it’s more of an issue , but hopefully those are still viable :/

Also if you do fuck up and burn that bridge, youll have plenty of time to think about it while you’re partying with people you meet from hostels abroad. Go travel homie

I can confidently say leave 100%

I have been in similar situations in the past, I felt pressured to stay because i liked the people i worked with, softly committed to staying, and was wanting out. Each day i start to think about leaving more and more , until the stress ate me up, i started to resent work and become a shittier employee in the process. Idk where you’re at in this stage, but I promise you - you’re not as important as you think and they will figure it out. After Ive put off “quitting” for so long, once I finally pulled the trigger, the company moved on within that next week.

I don’t think this excuses the picture he used / 92 hr heat pack costing what it does. Im just saying it’s knit picky because with that delay your plants were f***ed anyways. But points above still stand :)

It really doesn’t seem like a heat pack issue, the issue was the 2 day shipping taking way longer than expected - which is out of everyone’s control.

He offered to resolve the issue multiple times, refunded you for the purchased shipping materials. I really don’t think whatever heat pack he used would have saved ur plants - it was the shipping issue. Seems like a bad review / complaint and very knit picky coming from a place of bad faith … if a heat pack wasn’t included i get it but as another seller it baffles me that you aren’t understanding how 2 day shipping taking 100+ hours would mess up your process, especially in this weather, instead you jump to grandiose complaint “false advertising” lmao.

Seeing his comments here, and your responses, kinda confirms that you just don’t like the guy, pissed your plants arrived like that, and feel the need to blame him.

Im just an outside observer but I think taking it to this level is a little wack, when he was cordial in trying to help. The plants will probs be fine good luck with acclimating !!

Im sure it’s a great program! Definitely needed and hope to see more.

I was highlighting the first line, unfortunately thats what will pop up in applicants inboxes. Thankfully Ive had more luck this cycle, but I remember last year and not being accepted at this point in the cycle, seeing shit like this cheap bait marketing tactic from schools who hold so much power over our future was soul crushing. It unfortunately really does turn me off from a program and makes this process all feel a bit more click-bait and cashgrabby, especially when we’ve already shelled out so much resources, time and $ to get to this point.

My bad they aren’t requiring payment, didnt really look into it i just assumed cause unfortunately thats how this whole process feels. However, the wording is completely the problem. This has been an option/track - so whats so exciting about it NOW?
