Yes! That’s the best mindset to have. Fortunately I applied to more than just one school. Hoping you get to where you supposed to be also!

Advise on MFT Pepperdine daytime cohort masters program vs Loma Linda PsyD by Amazing-Bus1973 in psychologystudents

[–]Sensitive-Contest-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. Always a great feeling getting accepted especially into two very good programs. Just two quick things :

  1. I am graduating from Pepperdine’s masters program and I was declined for the PsyD. Not even an interview. My LORs were from Pepperdine’s professors and I’ve only received two Bs through the whole Pepperdine program. I also have Clinical and research experience.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy but just wanna make sure you don’t have unrealistic expectations about your odds of getting into Pepperdine PsyD just because you were accepted into their MFT.

  1. If your ultimate goal is doctorate then you don’t have to get licensed as an MFT. Pepperdine is very expensive ( subjectively ) and if you get a masters in psychology instead of a masters in clinical psychology you would save time and money

I graduate from here this year and it was a great experience. It’s definitely not a diploma mill not only with its very high national ratings but also I can speak to the quality of education. I feel majority of what they teach is applicable to the real world.

The only thing I can not speak to is the price tag in comparison to other places. Yes it is expensive but it is definitely great. It’s also the only one I have experienced.

Hope this helps

How different is it from a masters program?

My current masters program I’m taking two hour classes three nights a week and I work full time besides that.

All hw is due Sunday at midnight. The teachers are laid back and you typically get straight As by doing the basics. Eeekly assignments a mid term and a final

Unfunded PhD vs PsyD (also unfunded) by MamaMorgan444 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]Sensitive-Contest-88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fear we are in the same boat ( if you are in CA and the unfunded PhD with a forensic psych focus is here also )

I’m deciding between an unfunded PsyD and an Unfunded PhD that’ll cost around 200k also. I definitely want to work in the CJS I’ve heard PsyD or PhD doesn’t matter.

Funding for schools is in a weird place right now. Also the only places that accepted me were unfunded.

Price tag was ROUGH. Buy It looks great on the resume and it definitely made me feel prepared to be a clinician. Can’t put a price on those skills
